Worst Case Scenario (bad, bad, bad)
weekly standard ^ | 10/14/08 | Barnes

Worst Case Scenario What an Obama administration and a heavily Democratic Congress would accomplish. John McCain trails Barack Obama and shows no signs, at the moment anyway, of propelling himself into the lead. Democrats lead in eight Senate seats currently held by Republicans and are close in three others. In the House, Republicans once thought they'd lose only 5 to 10 seats. Now things look worse.

Thanks particularly to the month-long financial crisis, Republicans are in extremely poor shape with the election three weeks away. This means the worst case scenario is now a distinct possibility: a Democrat in the White House, a Democratic Senate with a filibuster-proof majority, and a Democratic House with a bolstered majority.

If this scenario unfolds, Washington would become a solidly liberal town again for the first time in decades. And the prospects of passing the liberal agenda--nearly all of it--would be bright. Enacting major parts of it would be even brighter. You can forget about bipartisanship.

Start with "card check." It would permit organized labor to unionize the private sector without winning a certification election by secret ballot. It's easy to get workers to sign cards saying they want a union, but it's hard to get them to vote that way when labor organizers aren't hounding them. Card check is labor's last hope for more dues-paying union members.

Unions simply aren't popular and neither is card check. But it passed the House last year, only to be blocked in the Senate by a Republican filibuster. In 2009, with Washington controlled by Democrats, it would sail through Congress and President Obama would

"You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We will preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we will sentence them to take the first step into a thousand years of darkness. If we fail, at least let our children and our children's children say of us we justified our brief moment here. We did all that could be done.

The military could end up standing up to this punk in droves if he does become a tyrant in their own version of saying “enough”.

Costa Rica had come to mind.

I wonder what the real estate laws are like there?
Could be a wonderful place to invest in some dirt.

You won’t have to worry about your finances. America will not exist for long under a Obamanation administration. We will either be in a VERY violent civil or world war shortly .... or both

I saw a poll last night that Saxby Chambliss in Georgia was tied with the dim opponent. I’m not fan of Saxby. Among other things, he devised an amnesty plan that he was pushing until the uproar and outcry became so loud he “switched”, but I still don’t trust him. He’s been no better than a bucket of warm spit, but I’ll end up voting for him because I don’t want to give Harry Reid one more dim robot. WE MUST MAINTAIN A FILIBUSTER READY SENATE! DARK DAYS LIE AHEAD FOR OUR COUNTRY!

The road up can take a long, long time...in general, eventually everyone agrees that things are better now than in the past.

So, anyone have suggestions on how we protect ourselves, our wealth, and our families from a socialist government for the next generation?

Gold, guns, MREs, need to form mililtias.

The right is getting intimidated by left wing muscle.

Everything goes up and down, if you take it out long enough, you may find that things are generally better than they used to be. 25 or 30 yrs isn’t really that long.

Costa Rica had come to mind.

Me too.

Although I think I’d like to fight in a civil war.

Plus the majority of the armed forces are conservitive and as you cited, the first duty they do have is to both uphold and protect the Consitution from those who vowed to distroy it. Any politicos that tries to mess around with this document or the military will be in for a RUDE awakening.

And forgot:

—amnesty and fast-track citizenship for the illegals

—I predict NATO will be folded into the EU or UN in order to weaken and eventually eliminate it

Looking at the tax freedom day chart, you can at least see some effort by the 3 Republican administrations to keep the standard of living or number of days we work for ourselves up. During the single Democratic administration, Clinton's, there was a steady increase in number of days worked for the government, even though the economy and financial markets were also in a steady increase. Just because we were dealing with more money, the percentage of what we got to keep for our self was less.

Yes, civilization eventually did recover, after 50 generations of human suffering and untold millions of deaths. I don't want to see our country suffer even a fraction of that fate. We've spent too much blood and sweat to build a Republic based on individual liberty and the concept of inalienable rights of individuals citizens. We can't throw that away for the jejune and illusory promises and “charms” of a false Messiah.

I think the best thing to do is quit your job and go on welfare...become a valued member of society.

I’m afraid that a return of control to the radical left will be the ultimate Bush legacy if McCain loses. For his entire presidency, Bush has allowed the media and his political enemies (yes, I know that’s redundant) to define him and his policies, especially as it relates to Iraq and the recent economic meltdown.
