Looking at the tax freedom day chart, you can at least see some effort by the 3 Republican administrations to keep the standard of living or number of days we work for ourselves up. During the single Democratic administration, Clinton's, there was a steady increase in number of days worked for the government, even though the economy and financial markets were also in a steady increase. Just because we were dealing with more money, the percentage of what we got to keep for our self was less.
