Yes, civilization eventually did recover, after 50 generations of human suffering and untold millions of deaths. I don't want to see our country suffer even a fraction of that fate. We've spent too much blood and sweat to build a Republic based on individual liberty and the concept of inalienable rights of individuals citizens. We can't throw that away for the jejune and illusory promises and “charms” of a false Messiah.
