Barack Obama is shown with an edge against John McCain in a North Dakota presidential race that has narrowed to a statistical tie, according to a new Forum poll.
The survey shows Obama squeaking past McCain, 45 percent to 43 percent, a lead that falls within the polls margin of error and therefore indicates a dead heat, according to political analysts.
Still up for grabs: undecided voters, comprising 12 percent.
Its a statistical tossup, said Jim Danielson, co-director of the Public Affairs Institute at Minnesota State University Moorhead, which conducted the statewide telephone survey for The Forum. Pollsters contacted 606 likely North Dakota voters by telephone Oct. 6-8.

will people quit with the BS!
While North Dakota is less conservative than its reputation, it’s VERY unlikely that the race there is that close. I’d like to learn more about the polling firm.
In other news it 65 to 35 obama in Utah!
If I use this poll as a litmus test as to the accuracy of all polls, then all polls are complete BS. No way ND goes Obama, unless Acorn is registering Canadians.
Forum poll?
Everyone has a poll. All of them as good as the rest.
btw the WWTF poll out today shows McCain has opened up a 3 point lead in NJ and a 6 point lead in NY.
I believe it. Idaho and Utah too. Now excuse me while I write my letter to Santa Claus.
Bush won that state by 27% in 2004 and hasn’t gone Dem since 1964. I am not at all concerned about losing it.
No doubt aboot it eh? We Canadians want another socialist utopia....all that free health care eh?
some of this is pure BS
I agree McCain is behind amongst Dem weighted polls and the only thing to save us baring a big shift will be a huge GOP turnout
but:
I just spent 5 days in Boone area of NC where folks claim NC is a tossup
that is ridiculous...McCain support was everywhere and Obama hardly to be found even in that hippie-dippy college mountain town
I had folks stopping me right and left about my bumperstickers...some custom made
that never happens in very lib urban Nashville
Breaking News: Voter Fraud Hits North Dakota
When Pigs Fly
Know both places very well ( more Florida) Obama isn't winning either.
I went to the Florida LSU games Saturday , my son goes to UF
The students cars had 95% McCain Stickers.
http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/ projects McCain at +3.5.
CNN 2004 voter breakdown
GOP 41
Dem 27
Ind 27
It looks like, from the polls internals, they did pole more republicans than dems. The problem I am concerned about is the base. Bush got 97% while McCain in this is about 20 points behind Bush’s number.
Obama pulls ahead in Texas too, the MSM tells me...
Don’t buy it.
Uh, if Hussein wins North Dakota, McCain may as well pack it in.
I just figured it was a “share the pain” kind of thing.
