Obama leads in ND (count me as skeptical)

Barack Obama is shown with an edge against John McCain in a North Dakota presidential race that has narrowed to a statistical tie, according to a new Forum poll.

The survey shows Obama squeaking past McCain, 45 percent to 43 percent, a lead that falls within the poll’s margin of error and therefore indicates a dead heat, according to political analysts.

Still up for grabs: undecided voters, comprising 12 percent.

“It’s a statistical tossup,” said Jim Danielson, co-director of the Public Affairs Institute at Minnesota State University Moorhead, which conducted the statewide telephone survey for The Forum. Pollsters contacted 606 likely North Dakota voters by telephone Oct. 6-8.

While North Dakota is less conservative than its reputation, it’s VERY unlikely that the race there is that close. I’d like to learn more about the polling firm.

If I use this poll as a litmus test as to the accuracy of all polls, then all polls are complete BS. No way ND goes Obama, unless Acorn is registering Canadians.

Forum poll?

Everyone has a poll. All of them as good as the rest.

btw the WWTF poll out today shows McCain has opened up a 3 point lead in NJ and a 6 point lead in NY.

Bush won that state by 27% in 2004 and hasn’t gone Dem since 1964. I am not at all concerned about losing it.

some of this is pure BS

I agree McCain is behind amongst Dem weighted polls and the only thing to save us baring a big shift will be a huge GOP turnout

but:

I just spent 5 days in Boone area of NC where folks claim NC is a tossup

that is ridiculous...McCain support was everywhere and Obama hardly to be found even in that hippie-dippy college mountain town

I had folks stopping me right and left about my bumperstickers...some custom made

that never happens in very lib urban Nashville

I live part time in Florida and North Carolina

Know both places very well ( more Florida) Obama isn't winning either.

I went to the Florida LSU games Saturday , my son goes to UF

The students cars had 95% McCain Stickers.

CNN 2004 voter breakdown

GOP 41
Dem 27
Ind 27

It looks like, from the polls internals, they did pole more republicans than dems. The problem I am concerned about is the base. Bush got 97% while McCain in this is about 20 points behind Bush’s number.
