Not exactly sure what happened to them, but the trend in Florida according to the polling data cited shows that they are an abnormality. Obama is having a hardier time sealing the deal with Jews than Kerry did. That’s not good.
When did they switch from R to D? Clinton? Bush? That’d be interesting to know.
When Reagan started pushing for prayer in schools as well as a conservative social agenda they became Democrats. Prior to that they were Republicans and were big advocates of the Civil Rights Movement.
As for their interests in Israel, they advocate the two state solution and believe the State of Israel must exist today as well as ten years from now, 100 years from now and 1000 years from now.
The Jewish People did not fight for a state that would last 60 or 600 years but for the long term .
