Dispensing political slogans and pointed barbs in her trademark folksy tone, Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin thrilled a raucous crowd of supporters Saturday in Johnstown.
And while last weeks headlines focused on the nations faltering economy, Palin shaped her half-hour speech around a different theme: Abortion.
Palin laid down clear battle lines on that hot-button issue, saying Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama is a radical.
In contrast, she argued, voting the John McCain/Palin ticket into the White House would foster a culture of life.
On Nov. 4, its going to come down to what we believe in, Palin told a crowd packed into Cambria County War Memorial Arena.
Facing thousands of people who had been warmed up by speeches from local politicians and an acoustic performance by country music star Aaron Tippin, the Alaska governor noted that she was standing in the proud home of the Johnstown Chiefs.
I gotta believe we have a strong showing of hockey moms for McCain, she said.

This is thrilling.

Good news over here, nuclear assault on Obama, up to 400 Million to be spent by the time the election gets here.
If Obama held a rally (in his popular days) the police would have turned a blind eye to the numbers inside Cambria County War Memorial Arena. They would not have stopped until there were 30,000 people. Obama would have helped with the crush of people by throwing water bottle out to those who felt faint.
I do not know why they gave out more tickets than there was seating.
If McCain loses on November 4th, then on November 5th I will be re-directing my posting energy over to Palin/Hunter 2012.
Anybody else with me?
I love that sound, she said. And please let that baby keep on crying.
God, I love this woman...!
Too late now!
Sir, you are exactly correct! The GOP is doing a poor job of setting up Governor Palin’s rallies.
How can doctors & nurses stand by & assist in this??
Just heartbreaking.
That’s interesting. I was at the rally and I thought they could have fit another 200-300 people on the floor. I actually didn’t think it was going to fill up, since there were still 300 empty seats 20 minutes before Palin went on.
(How about this one...:)
"Who own da Chiefs?"
Great movie!
Heheh...my wife asked me to pick up a Paul Newman movie to watch Friday night (I guess she must have been feeling nostalgic) and I just couldn’t figure out which one to get...
A friend suggested Slapshot, and while it is one of my all-time favorite movies, I don’t think I could have brought that to her...:)
I made a funny observation to someone...hockey players (of which I was one) love Slapshot in the same way Fighter Pilots love Top Gun. We know it is stereotypical, inaccurate, blah blah blah....
But we love it anyway...:} My favorite scene:
FROM THE MOVIE SLAPSHOT
(Jim Carr interviews the Chiefs Goalie, Denis)
JIM CARR: Hi. Jim Carr again.
JIM CARR: Denis, I know that some in our audience don’t know the finer points of hockey. Could you tell them, for example, what is icing?
DENIS THE GOALIE: Well, icing happen when the puck come down, bang, you know, before the other guys, nobody there, you know. My arm go comes out, then the game stop then start up.
JIM CARR: I see. What is high-sticking?
DENIS THE GOALIE: High-sticking happen when the guy take the stick, you know, and he go like that. (HITS WITH GOALIE STICK) You don’t do that. Oh, no. Never, never.
JIM CARR: Why not?
DENIS THE GOALIE: Against the rules. You stupid when you do that, some English pig with no brains...
JIM CARR: Denis, what is slashing?
DENIS THE GOALIE: Slashing is like that, you know? (SLASHES WITH GOALIE STICK)
JIM CARR: Mm-hm. And there’s a penalty for that?
DENIS THE GOALIE: Yeah. And for trip also, you know.
JIM CARR: Oh?
DENIS THE GOALIE: Like that. And for hook like this. (HOOKS GOALIE STICK AROUND LEGS, THEN AROUND TORSO) And for spear, you know, like that. (HITS BUTT END OF GOALIE STICK INTO HIS MIDSECTION)
JIM CARR: Mm-hm.
All bad. You do that, you go to the box, you know. Two minutes by yourself, and you feel shame, you know.
JIM CARR: Mm-hm.
DENIS THE GOALIE: And then you get free.
She is like a beam of crystal pure light angelically parting a federal government sea of festering muck.
......I think she attracts Republicans while mccain attracts democrats......
Aahaa grasshopper..... the scales are removed and you are enlightened. When the revelation struck did you see a bright light?
Okay, okay, call me Captain Obvious. ;)
I think there have been some abortion doctors and nurses who changed their minds and no longer will take part in abortions. In fact, one doctor even talks to groups about it.
You can google it or possibly www.abortionno.org has resources on it.
