Barack Obama would offer John McCain a job is he wins the US election
UK Telegraph ^ | October 11, 2008 | Tim Shipman

Both presidential rivals are working behind the scenes to calm the increasingly incendiary atmosphere on the campaign trail, which erupted with lurid claims about Mr Obama's links with the former terrorist Bill Ayres and a lynch mob atmosphere at McCain rallies.

Two Democratic sources with knowledge of the thinking in the Obama camp say that forming a partnership with Mr McCain would prove that Mr Obama will reach across the aisle and also help rehabilitate Mr McCain, who many Democrats believe has been pushed by hardline advisers into making increasingly desperate attacks on his rival.

By his own admission, the Republican candidate "took the gloves off" last week , unleashing adverts and soundbites attacking Mr Obama's character and judgment as polls showed him on course for a landslide election victory.

One well-connected Democrat, who spoke to Mr Obama last week, told The Sunday Telegraph: "John McCain is a good man. There's no question about it. I think we'll see Barack Obama reach out to him and say: let's work together."

He pointed out that Bill Clinton and the first President Bush "work together on common issues" despite their testy exchanges "in the heat of battle".

And a Democratic strategist who talks regularly with Mr Obama's senior advisors added: "Obama has said all along that he will work with the best people, regardless of party affiliation. John McCain has experience and he used to have a record of bipartisanship. We're all going to need to pull together when this is over."

Mr McCain will not be offered a cabinet job, but Mr Obama may ask him to spearhead a bipartisan overhaul of veteran's affairs, an issue close to Mr McCain's heart.

Not going to happen. Some of you are buying into the media that wants to depress votes for McCain. Obama has never reached across the aisle when it matters.

Obama’s supporters are now attacking McCain personally and McCain has demanded Obama repudiate them. Crickets so far.

Strategy, strategy, strategy!

This English newspaper is full of itself and the Dem operatives planting stories. Even the GOP they interview are not from within the inner circle of McCain but Bush loyalists. Keep that in mind.

If BO wins his Presidency will be illegitimate due to the extensive voter fraud by the Democrats. My flag will hang at half mast and upside down for the duration of his Presidency.

The Telegraph (so far) has been conservative/sane in it’s articles most of the time...except for this one. Can’t win em’ all. That “lynch mob” statement was stupid...well, they’ll be under Sharia law in the UK within 10 years so it won’t matter.

That sounds about right. Why not? Two negatives make a positive...We have a winning situation!

(I am getting sicker by the moment. I had better stop reading.)

Is McCain going to be made Secretary of “Leave the Senate and give 0bama another seat closer to a filibuster proof 60”?

lol..what makes you think I bought into that BS? In fact, I made it quite clear that even if B-HO did reach across the aisle (which he obviously wouldn't) the outcome would be just as frightening as if he didn't.

A crazy thought just occurred to me...

Bear with me...

Maybe McCain knows something about this whole birth certificate thing...

I mean, I don't really know the whole truth about that...

but what if McCain does?

And what if he knows when this information may become validated and public?

Just wondering...this could be all a bunch of whimsical thinking, but thought I'd get it out there anyway.

Thanks for listening.

I don’t believe it either. The issue of veterans’ affairs wouldn’t be a big position of influence if he offered it anyway. Obama has always been very loyal to his party, and the far left of it at that. I’m skeptical giving any Republican a job in his administration.

It should say:

“of him” before “giving”

“Barack Obama would offer John McCain a job is he wins the US election “

And yesterday McCain says Obama would make a good president.

Tell me again the difference in these two parties? They’ve reached so far across the isle that it’s disappeared.

Statement: "Both presidential rivals are working behind the scenes to calm the increasingly incendiary atmosphere on the campaign trail, which erupted with lurid claims about Mr Obama's links with the former terrorist Bill Ayres and a lynch mob atmosphere at McCain rallies."

Response: This report if true, means the politicians actually seeing the attitude of the people at their rallies are getting scared. I don't think the media is reporting the total rage being expressed by the populace.
