CNN) John McCain who has often praised civil rights icon John Lewis called a statement by the Georgia congressman Saturday comparing the outbursts at recent Republican rallies to the rhetoric of segregationist George Wallace a brazen and baseless attack that is shocking and beyond the pale.
Lewis issued his statement after several days of headline-grabbing anger directed at Democratic nominee Barack Obama by some attendees at McCain campaign rallies.

24 hours in and Obama has still not repudiated the remarks...
Classy guy that Obama
“The Democratic party is still the party of manufactured and exploited conflict.”
Truth. Keyword is Exploitation. The Democrat Party IS the party of exploitation.
Saying anything against the record, background or associations of THAT ONE is considered “racist” and forbidden to be brought to the light of truth.
THIS IS HOW LONG WE HAVE BEEN PUTTING UP WITH THIS SLANDER.
Oh, I remember Clarence. But I'm afraid that was nothing compared to what they'd do to a presidential candidate.
Precisely. Perhaps "I acknowledge and bewail my manifold sins and wickednesses" might be too much to hope for, but could just one of these creatures, just once, dig deep enough for an honest "What I said was wrong, and I apologize"?
“There is a class of colored people who make a
business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs,
and the hardships of the Negro race before
the public.
Some of these people
do not want the Negro to lose his grievances,
because they do not want to lose their jobs.
There is a certain class of race-problem solvers
who dont want the patient to get well.”
- Booker T. Washington
Thank you. I’ve actually been looking for that quote!
You’re welcome!
It’s as relevant now as ever. Imagine anyone (black, white, green, yellow or blue) even trying to say that, so boldly and bluntly, nowadays.
can't use a phrase like that ... wouldn't be prudent ... might sound racist
I’ve been saying pretty much the same thing to family and friends for months now:
No matter what the outcome, We the People, are screwed.
If McCain gets in...we’re a racist country.Period. Let the indignant riots begin.
If Zero gets it, all it will take is one minor stupid remark by some actual bigot, either real on contrived, (never mind an actual threat on his safety)...and we’re a racist country. Let the indignant riots begin.
Daily I thank God I do not live anywhere near a city and can be, at a moments notice, self sufficient, if needs be!
Scarily enough, that is proably quite likely.
I will say this much: John Mc Cain may not be afraid of an Obama Presidency, but I sure am. John Mc Cain may believe that Obama would be a good President , but I don’t. John Mc Cain may believe that Obama is an honorable man, but I don’t.
But I do believe that there will be enough fools and idiots to elect Obama President.
I do believe that an individual of Obama’s character with a Democrat majority in control of both Houses of Congress, the power of the Federal Government behind him and with the help of the Democrat Party and alphabet media organizations will make this the last meaningful Presidential Election.
This is how I feel. What's up with McCain? Where's the standard for definition of the word "decent"? How 'Clintonesque'!
It makes you wonder what McCain is hiding if he can call a fellow senator who has terrorist (home-grown and international), Chicago thug, Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac and voter fraud (Acorn) connections and associations an 'honorable and decent man'!!!!?????
IMO, he's driving his voter base away - AGAIN!!!!
Maybe McCain got his 'marching orders'...but maybe it wasn't from that crowd the other day. Maybe it was NWO marching orders!!! He's getting too close to beating the candidate who is designed as the final 'nail-in-America's coffin'.
He is Yosemite Sam, I fear. ("Aw, shucks. We lost")
Obama using race to shut down free speech...One Whitey at a time.
McCain is a moron who doesn’t have a clue what the Left is. Here’s a snippet from the Saddleback Church gig:
WARREN: This first set of questions deals with leadership and the personal life of leadership. The first question, who are the three wisest people that you know that you would rely on heavily in an administration?
...I think John Lewis. John Lewis was at the Edmund Pettis Bridge, had his skull fractured, continued to serve, continues to have the most optimistic outlook about America. He can teach us all a lot about the meaning of courage and commitment to causes greater than our self- interest.
He would “rely on heavily”!!! We are SCREWED no matter who wins this thing.
( No doubt about it -- it's just a matter of degree. (But because that degree is important, I'll be voting for Palin/McCain). Remember, it wasn't that long ago McCain was RINO Enemy #1 around here. How quickly (some) people forget.
Thanks for the compliment. I can express myself when not overwhelmed by the inclination to quip and post funny pictures.
:)
Absolutely right Mr Mojo - we are screwed with McCain (will seek Algore’s advice on global warming for God’s sake) but it will be 1000 times worse with the stealth Communist 0bama. I’ll be right behind you voting for Yosemite Sam but I’ll probably have to go outside and throw up after.
