For almost one-hundred years, the Left has been busily engaged in stealthily undermining and gutting our founding documents and America’s social, political, legal, and cultural infrastructures. Toward this end, they’ve managed to marginalize the Declaration of Independence—the charter document—and to cleverly infiltrate new and alien meaning into our Constitution. Whereas originally, the individual’s right to liberty was viewed as God-given---thus fixed and unchanging---God has been declared dead and subsequently replaced by a quasi-divine State, while group privileges are increasingly sweeping away individual rights. And where each and every human life possesses an ‘inalienable right to life’ was held as an immutable truth and a universal moral good, the ‘enlightened’ politically correct view holds that truth and morality are irrelevant and human life is without value, dignity, or purpose. Taking the place of our inalienable right to life is politically correct choice. In reality, choice is an elitist eugenics mentality in disguise, hence it views procreation of undesirables---such as the common man---as bad, therefore all population control schemes such as euthanasia, abortion, and the abomination called partial birth abortion---which is tantamount to infanticide---are ‘good.’

You really nail it here, spirited irish!

With God "dead," so is any universal standard of the Good (public or personal) — or Truth for that matter.

Or of morality, private or civic (i.e., morality as it extends to the welfare of the whole public life — the public Good).

Under this mindless regime, everything becomes a matter of "opinion"; and given some deranged concept of human "equality," all opinions are held to be equally valuable — at least as long as they are not equally despicable! Talk about the perfection of irrationality!

Plus ethics becomes "situational"; morality, "relative." Thus law itself becomes unhinged from any basis in a fixed principle, a ratio, criterion, or standard that can validate or invalidate the truth of statements (bye bye logic!) and proposals.

And yet this what it takes to get us a "rule of men," and why the American rule of law, the Constitution, must go.

If folks don't wake up smell the palpable danger to the American republic in all this, and start putting up a resistance to it, we shall lose our country.

Yet few seem to notice that this is a critically serious problem that has been cultivated and primed to undermine and abolish the Constitution — and thus the liberties of the people — by irrational, manic people who make a whole lot of senseless noise. Certainly they are people who hate God, and being thoroughly, bitterly unhinged from Him, have lost not only their humanity, but their minds as well.

I've just finished reading David McCullough's magnificent biography of John Adams, in which I found this choice item: "I know not what to make of a republic of thirty million atheists [then the total population of the U.S.]".

He was speaking in response to the enthusiasm of one political party of the time (i.e., the Republicans under TJ) for the French Revolution. Even before the horror stories from France began filtering in, Adams perceived (correctly as history testifies) that enshrining Reason, elevating it to the status of God (as the philosophes so attractive to TJ argued), was a sure prescription for tyranny, social breakdown, and ultimately war.

Adams well understood the necessity of an unvarying, fixed moral code as the only true source of the citizen virtue it takes to maintain and defend a constitutional republic. It was his lifelong conviction that the two truthful, faithful sources of morality personal and civic were (1) the Holy Bible — first and foremost; (2) as the model of American citizen virtue, the Roman Cicero.

Americans don't spend a whole lot of time in public schools contemplating such things these days, thanks to the wonderfully "creative" pedagogical models of the likes of William Ayers.

spirited irish, I don't know what the answer is. All I can say is I'm praying a lot these days. That God will not forget America, and that He will forgive us for not defending her — or His truth. That He may give us yet another unearned blessing!

Thank you ever so much for your beautiful essay-post spirited irish!

p.s.: Somehow we folks have to draw the line at any undercutting of the Second Amendment. That would be the final usurpation against the true sovereign of this country: We the People. Then it would be a case of: The king is dead! Long live the king! After that, our circumstance would be little different than that of supine cattle.

The Lord is NOT a Sunday morning thing...it is a daily walk with Him. It is an every minute walk with Him.

Or shades of Escape from New York! LOLOL!!! The Law of the Jungle being like the reinvigorated corpse that became Frankenstein!

Jeepers dear brother in Christ, but I'm not quite that pessimistic yet.

My optimism (such that I have it) transcends what most people mean by optimism. Which seems to be: Everything in the world affecting us (or me) personally will work out to our (my) advantage. But the word "advantage" is really not defined at all. So I don't know what this optimistic statement actually means, logically speaking.

My optimism is placed in God Himself: That all things here on earth are and yet shall be as they are in heaven — all according to God's Will and Purpose in creating the universe, and especially man.

Okay, I read it and I agree with everything except the reincarnation part. IOW, a real understanding of reincarnation is not new-agey leftist materialism. But that is a minor point, all in all.

People who are slaves of their senses quickly become slaves of those who control the objects their senses crave. They then cravenly lick the boots of their masters, hoping for goodies to be doled out to them. They will ignore all atrocities, enslavement, and horrors just to keep getting doses of their chosen poison.

We can see it happening all around us.

It does seem like people generally, only truly appreciate freedom and prosperity when they don’t have it. Regardless, I still refuse to believe the perpetual state of slavery is better for mankind’s soul.

Once one is branded a racist, all credibility, hence influence, one might have is completely lost. Not only does it totally invalidate the current point one might be making (the subject of the racial charge), it destroys any future points for the targeted person. It is quite a powerful silencer for the left, and the primary cause for the recent financial crisis, which effects not only the U.S. but the entire world.

Fear of such a brand, kept the mouths of many who could see the disaster for which we were headed quiet, and held back those who dared to say anything from pushing their point any harder.

Thank you, irish, for your insightful, eloquent post -- every word of it painfully true.

And, betty, I can do no more than reiterate the beautiful intent of your heartfelt prayer:

All I can say is I'm praying a lot these days. That God will not forget America, and that He will forgive us for not defending her — or His truth. That He may give us yet another unearned blessing!

Amen.

I propose that at the very least there is a provision added to the constitution that if a religion was found to be detrimental to America by the actions of its followers said religious group would be bound under certain articles to in effect be made illegal.

Practicing Islam in America would then become illegal due to fact its doctrines mandate actions detrimental to American laws, policies and security as a free nation.Islamic countries eventually are consumed my Islam, very few nations have held off the encroachment of Islam.

If we cannot restrain Islam we the people must know how to make it known that they are not welcome in our country.

And our first responsibility is to at least elect people to lead us that actually know who the enemy is, not someone who has them on a speed dial.

I join in your earnest prayers for our country!

YES! Read this article and weep, people. Those here who are my age have seen this shaping up since the 60s, through all administrations..Trust is gone. Just wait until super inflation hits as a result of all this “bailout” money being pumped into our system. We might need a wheelbarrow full of cash to buy a loaf of bread. Sorry to be so blunt but these are perilous times and the realities, whatever they are, need to be faced by those with common sense. This is the kind of ground from which dictatorships grow.

I believe you and I are about the same age. I have seen the same things. We are in the same situation Germany was in the early 1930's.

I have an old friend from grade school back in the 60’s, he has never grown and matured to a point where logic and critical thought become second nature. Like water flowing down hill he seeks the path of least resistance intellectually speaking.
He is easily derailed by anything that appeals to the lowest common denominator; hollywood fakery (movies and TV shows about fake people with fake jobs, breasts, lives etc...) spends hours playing xbox video games and other useless time wasting hobbies. I wonder sometimes how he lives life in blissful ignorance, knows nothing about politics never votes, reads or even watches the news. How he made it this long is a mystery to me.

After reading this piece by LK I think I understand him a little better...

I pray for our country daily, as well. One of my consolations is the fact that the Pilgrims dedicated the New World to the Glory of Jesus Christ, and the spreading of His Kingdom into the New World. God has not abandoned us but I am afraid we have a great deal of Tribulation heading our way.

Reincarnation is a babylonian abomination against God.

As if he could not create a few billion wholly unique souls and needs to recycle them. HAH!

The babylonian mystery religions are the very foundation of leftism.
