After days of watching in silence, McCain calms the crowd at his Minnesota town meeting.
I want everyone to be respectful. And lets make sure we are, because thats the way politics is done in America.
Tells one supporter who says hes scared of an Obama presidency: I have to tell you, he is a decent person, a person that you do not have to be scared [of] as president of the United States.
After a woman calls Obama an Arab, McCain interrupts to say: No, maam. He is a decent family man, citizen

Go somewhere else, because I'm not in the mood to hear it tonight.
“You need to suck it up and get over it. With supporters like this, no wonder the GOP is in trouble.”
McCain’s supporters have been all over FR making the point that Obama is a danger to our country, that he would appoint leftist judges to the Supreme court, that he has radical associations, etc etc.
For now on, anytime we read criticisms of this nature about Obama, we need to remember that they must not be true and are simply politics as usual during an election year. If anyone doubts this, they can just ask John McCain......he’ll tell them. Just ask McCain.
Exactly...he never has been my candidate...I was voting for the PARTY, after the MSM decided to pick the GOP candidate.
Then, when McCain did ONE think right, and picked Palin as his running mate, I actually sent in money and signed up to volunteer.
Now...you tell me why I shouldn’t ask for a refund, when he just told ALL of the undecideds that Obama is cool, not a problem...??
Also..I have never said on this thread or elsewhere that I wasn’t going to vote for the ticket, I will..even though in Texas, it probably won’t make that big of a difference, unless a lot of Texans heard that speech today...and in that case MAY decide to vote for that swell guy Obama now.
OMG REALLY? Someone yelled, “Kill him?”
lol
Whatever, it’s a figure of speech. Coaches say it to their team all of the time.
McCain can still annoy me with policies and even some comments like today, BUT I have no doubt that “he truly loves this country” when you consider the sacrifice that he made in serving and being a POW. That single fact is enough also for me.
HEY EVERYONE....read what bcatwilly wrote one more time and chill out. If you all think this election will turn on one sentence you are dreaming...WAY TOO MUCH TIME LEFT.
read my tagline!
Read all of my posts....and then show me where I have said I was staying home.
I am waiting......
Don’t get snarky with a poster unless you have the goods...
McCain has now given them the opening to smear all of us as wild eyed white trash paranoid racists.
I despise him.
Gov Palin should get out of the Republican Party ASAP after the election. The RNC have not defended her in any way, let her be humiliated...and she is out on her own now to do their dirty work....so they can get good press, and she will be further destroyed.
So you and the rest of the people on this thread want Senator John McCain to stand up at a Town Hall where Obama has planted people to ask questions and say, “I agree with you, I fear Obama if he becomes President.” Next question, “What makes you fear Obama, Mr. McCain?” I fear who he associates with. “Are those people American citizens?” Yes “So you fear Americans?”
That is an example of a slippery slope and how Sen McCain could be boxed in on one of those questions. NEVER should a candidate answer a question “Do you fear your opponent?” Sen McCain did the right thing — he is running for President and you don’t want to go there. Because we fear him and Sen McCain might behind the scenes does not mean he should come right out and say it.
It is all well and good that some of you are so passionate but it has to be tempered by common sense on what you can and cannot say when your are running for the Office of President and the Senator did not throw anyone under the bus.
Please everyone take a deep breath — we have only weeks in which to make sure Obama is defeated and articles like this are done to depress votes by Republicans. So help me every last Republican or anyone that values our country better get to the polls, vote for McCain/Palin, and stop this whining when he doesn’t say what you want him to say. He may just be a little smarter about how to handle things then some of us. He has sure been through a lot tougher times then most of us and if you think he will not work to win this election and be willing to turn it over to a socialist, think again. Senator John McCain is not a quitter — never has been and never will be.
Senator McCain puts COUNTRY FIRST and what is best for this Country. He knows how DC has to be cleaned up but some on here want him to telegraph everything. Not going to happen and he will do things that some won’t like but that is why he is called a Maverick. The one thing that Senator McCain will do is always support our troops and the US over the UN. Obama wants to give the UN control over a lot of what we have.
When the chips are down you either vote for a man that puts American First or one that puts the UN first. I don’t think that is a hard choice so some of you need to quit whining and get out and elect McCain/Palin for America!
You are intimidated too easily.
I agree with all that you said in your post.
No reason? No vote!
I think he should attack the media for not investigating accusations about Obama.
Remind them that their credibility is on the line.
Mcains life is an open book.
Obamas life is a book still in the wrapper.
Actually the media should examine Obamas book and fact check it.
Find out if he actually wrote it!
Someone needs to drive me to the polls election day because I will probably be drunk!
I know an arab man who beats his wife for having cobwebs in the closet. She’s supposed to be respectful and take it from him, because that’s “the woman’s place.” That’s a nice, family man, isn’t it? She’s a Christian.
Their attacks on Sarah worked. Her favorables are now below 50%. People call her stupid. They painted her out to be a shallow nutcase. AND they got in her head and messed with her confidence. What do you think you saw in the MSM interviews. She even said she was annoyed.
Why cant we do the same to Obama ? Why cant we make their side pay ?
Why isnt turnabout fair play ?
“Go somewhere else, because I’m not in the mood to hear it tonight.”
I dont really care what you want to hear or not. This isnt your private piss and moan fourm.
You think that pulling up some yard sign and staying home and crying is going to do what? Preserve you dignity as a conservative? Really?
Like I said you aren’t impressing anyone. With this nation at stake, you can either win with what we’ve got or you can go cast a ballot for Obama, period.
I’m afraid in the weeks to come, Sarah also is going to be reined in, and just also play to the already converted.
Is there no way to communicate to McCain that we will NOT put him in the WH unless he begins to seriously see things the way his “base” does??
I have already said, and said so in an e mail last week, that if he didn’t change his public persona as a viable candidate, people were only going to vote for McCain ‘08 in order to get Palin ‘12
That’s because Romney’s a Republican.
What kind of crap is that! You want Obama so Romney can run in 2012?
Your comments I just read about your taking out his sign show how little you know about politics and what is happening.
Grow up!
I call Barbara Streisand on that! Mc Cain was not telling his supporters not to point out these differences.
You need to realize that the media are taking the word “danger” and turning it into a racist remark. (Oh my G-d, don’t vote for that dangerous black man, muslim, arab). Remember the line Obama said about his own typical white Grandmother? That’s how these people think!
They deal in words, twisting of words... they want to paint supporters of the GOP as knuckle-dragging neanderthals who come out of the trailer park every four years to vote for racists like McCain and Palin! Audience members who jump onto this kind of rhetoric feed right into their mantra.
Clever people can get out the message without feeding into their stereotype.
Of course - here on FR - I love to see as much dirt as possible shoveled on the great ONE. In public, in a rally that is televised to the world - we need to look better than them.
My apologies.

No problem! I just didn’t want to get inadvertently signed up for the revolution, like Charlie Chaplin did when some Communists dropped a flag, and he picked it up and ran after them to give it back to them, and a Communist parade merged in behind him and ...
You're aiding and abetting the naysayers....you're playing into their very hands.
I'm staying upbeat!!!
