McCain faces conservative backlash over mortgage plan

By Alexander Mooney

CNN

(CNN) -- John McCain is facing a fresh round of anger from members of his own party deeply opposed to the Arizona senator's proposal for the federal government to purchase troubled mortgage loans. John McCain first mentioned his mortgage relief plan during Tuesday's town-hall debate with Barack Obama.

John McCain first mentioned his mortgage relief plan during Tuesday's town-hall debate with Barack Obama.

The pointed backlash from several economic conservatives -- many of whom already distrust McCain's commitment to free-market principles -- couldn't come at a worse time for the Republican presidential nominee less than four weeks before Election Day as he stares at a significant deficit in national and state polls.

But at a time when McCain can't afford to worry about a lack of support from his party's base, several conservatives are openly criticizing the plan as a flagrant reward for reckless behavior among lenders.

Let’s see: I can vote McCain, who wants to buy up mortgages, or I can vote for Obama, who wants to nationalize the entire economy. Hmmm. Tough choice.

They may not like it but I guarantee they’ll hate Obama’s plan much more.

It is a tough choice. Maybe this will help...Obama hates his country...McCain loves his country.

No matter what he proposes it will not get through congress. If he does happen to win the Dems who will still control the house and senate will be so bitter they will not pass anything he sends up to them. This article is only meant to stir up the conservative base against McCain and to help Obama

Yeah, we’re all Obama voters now.

Meanwhile the MSNBC crowd is suddenly worried that the country won’t want someone as inexperienced as their hero.

Saying that many will be looking backward instead of forward.

The msm is nuts, plain and simple.

BO’s plan goes beyond mortgages, in fact. I read he has plans for 401-K’s - wants to use them to shore up SS(?).

CNN can burn. The backlash is over. I don’t like the idea of any of these type of rescues but the choice is between putting someone in the White House who will have the power (if the polls are correct) to deepen and prolong the economic mess through raising taxes on corporations and businesses and Nationalizing Health care. There is no choice where that is concerned. Anyone who doesn’t understand how much we need a President who will exercise the veto pen against a Democrat Congress then they really don’t understand what this election could end up being. This election could produce near total control of the US government by liberals, not little “l” liberals but big “L”
liberals. These aren’t bill Clinton types these are the real wacko Moveon.org/Bill Ayers liberals who will control things. They will control our military, they will control our social policy, they will control our foreign policy, they will control our domestic policy.

Now is the time to put our country first. We can disagree on the details later but for now we need to agree on who our enemies are.

Bill, your enemy have lots of guns. What works in Europe and Latin America can't work here.

Exactly. Another media-created wedge. I hate these people, for attempting to influence the election to their candidate, and interfering with the process, instead of just reporting the facts.

My dad said he wasn’t crazy about McCain. I told him the other day, “I don’t always agree with McCain. He’s too liberal for me sometimes. But he’s someone we can trust with the Presidency.”

"The news media is now try to drive a wedge between McCain and his base."

Oh yeah. The silent majority awakened with the selection of Palin and has heretofore operated under the radar. Watch for more of these articles in the future. The problem for the presstitutes: the 'rats nominated 0bama and he is scaring a lot of that base. They can "weight" their polloganda all they want right now. The percentages they use will not reflect GOP turnout. Watch...

Yes, like we’re going to get so worked up about a debatable mortgage bailout, that we’ll turn and elect the man who helped create the mess. The man who will disgrace our military and our country, and bring socialism to all. The man who will try to disarm us, and allow baby murder.
