DOVER The staff at Dover High School was given the heads up that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the Republican vice presidential nominee, plans to hold a town hall-style event at the school on Wednesday, Oct. 15.
The stop will mark Palin's first appearance in New Hampshire as a candidate if not ever and is expected to draw up to 500 people from Dover and beyond, according to an e-mail Principal Deborah Migneault sent to staff.
Palin's visit falls on the heels of her husband, Todd, being in the state Saturday, when the snowmobile racer is set to take in the Grass Drags and Water Crossing event in Fremont, according to the New Hampshire Snowmobile Association.

Okay, so lemme get this straight. If NH is such a lost cause as the Obamanites say, then why are we still expending effort here, as is Gaffe Biden next week?

I had a trip planned for next week . Cancel that - it’s Cuda time ! I doubt very much they can continue to plan for only 500 peeps.
To: OCCASparky
I heard that she is also coming to Concord, but I didn’t see that in the article. Does anyone know where she will be?

Andy, NH ain't that big. :-) Drive to Dover!!
NH is IMO the most likely blue state from 2004 to flip to the good guys.
And I'll say it again. These are not the movements of a campaign trying to shore up its base, of a campaign trailing badly in the polls. The McCain/Palin team is in the driver's seat electorally. And they know it.
I'm not guaranteeing a win. We still have a long way to go. But this nonsense about the election being over is just that - nonsense.

Last time I was in NH there were more Obama signs....I came back this week and saw McCain/Palin everywhere....not just little signs..I mean huge signs. I am stoked!
I will be there. I already called the school, the lady in the Sups. office you could tell does not like Sarah....she said “ I know nothing about Sarah Paline” I told her well you better because its going to be huge!

Sounds like a great event, and the article also mentioned (as Andy alluded to) events are being firmed up in Dover and Laconia. Plus there's this snippet:
[Todd Palin is] also set to visit parts of Maine as part of the campaign's ramped-up effort in the state, according to published reports.
Sarah's events should go over very well in NH. They will almost certainly assist the Pubbies running to reclaim NH-01 (Former Rep. Jeb Bradley) and NH-02 (Jennifer Horn). NH-01 gave Bush almost 51% in 2004, while NH-02 gave him 47%.
And hopefully she can help Sununu, although he still seems to be struggling.

All great points. To which I would add one additional point. Even if you assume that today McCain is behind in places like NC and VA — and I wouldn’t make that assumption, which depends upon flawed state by state polling that oversamples Democrats and disregards actual exit poll data from recent elections — that doesn’t mean that he will behind in those places two weeks from now. Every competitive election involves a tightening towards the end when most base voters return home and swing voters start making up their minds. WHen this happens, McCain will pull ahead in these states, making the states that he is now campaigning in (NH, WI, IA, PA, OH, etc.) the true battleground states.

Okay, it's Palin lottery time. She's in VA on the 13th, and NH on the 15th. Nothing listed for the 14th. I'm thinking an
eastern PA event or two is in the cards for Tuesday!!
And no, I have no inside information. Just basing it on geography. Plus there are a couple of competitive House races in that area.

I doubt it's going to be 5000. First, it's during the day when all of us are working to support this economy, and next, McCain was in Rochester a while back at the Opera House, and only turned away a few people. That venue has a capacity of about 800.
While 1000 is certainly within the realm of reason, 5K is a bit much. The whole town of Dover is barely 25K, and a lot of those folks are decidedly liberal.

Yeah, there are a few nutcakes up here. An awful lot of conservatives in the surrounding areas though.

My thinking as well. Low ball numbers for a Palin event. She pulls in the thousands and over 10k on a daily basis. 500 is Biden league.
