The race for president rapidly is devolving into a competition to see who can propose the most socialistic programs.
Democrat Barack Obama advocates perhaps one of the largest series of tax increases in support of wealth-transference programs in the history of the country. But not to be outdone, Republican John McCain has decided to take a slide down a none-too-dissimilar socialist slippery slope.
Sen. McCain announced during Tuesday's Nashville debate his American Homeownership Resurgence Plan. As president, he would direct his Treasury secretary to spend $300 billion to purchase troubled mortgages -- in some cases, directly from homeowners -- and restructure them to reflect their burst-bubble values and make their mortgage more "manageable."
But this is a proposal straight out of the ultra-liberal George Soros- and Peter Lewis-backed Center for American Progress. Consider it the end of the private mortgage market. Few lenders will lend if government, not the market, is effectively setting housing prices and mortgage terms. It also eviscerates a fundamental constitutional right -- the right to contract.

Yep, and a rat can always out-bid the RNC.
Who was Bob Doles Running mate?
This reminds me of the Dole campaign and my reference to OLD GEEZERS.
Then again, the Democrats’ support for the bailout bill has them on record as supporting a principle behind the “trickle-down economics” they have railed against for so long.
I found it very interesting how they dropped their “no tax cuts for the rich” rhetoric in favor of “bailing out Wall Street to help Main Street.”

oops! double post.
That's a pretty stupid reason to turn the country over to socialists.
How to bring socialism to America:
Only vote for one of our two main parties
Only vote for “viable” candidates
Done!
If you can’t tell the difference, you’ve a serious problem with discernment.
One is an active socialist. The other will let it happen though complacency. The odds of stopping one are much better than the odds of stopping the other, surrender monkey.
Right, one just proposed to buy up all the bad mortgages...with his own fortune? Oh no, taxpayer money. Hmmm. Sounds like more than “complacency” to me.
I don’t see much good in a McCain presidency either. But Obama will be disaster.
How deep of a hole do you want to crawl out of in 4 years?
Not so deep that you are not able to make it, hope.
Tom Clancy could write a heck of a novel about all of this. The sate of the nation at this exact moment, has all of the ingredients for a best seller.
Problem is, this is real people. As for me, I’m just buying more ammunition, while I still can.
Yep, it was always just a matter of rate between the two parties. Now, it's an even match, both trying to out do each other in spending our money to cover their tracks. All else being depicted on the campaign trail is political hyperbole for the sheeple and koolaid drinkers.
I do see value in McCain as Prez if as expected the Dems take both houses: either klepto party in complete control is very dangerous -no check, no balance...
