PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE #2 LIVE THREAD
10/07/08

Posted on 10/07/2008 2:01:24 PM PDT by TornadoAlley3

While the two presidential candidates, Senators John McCain and Barack Obama, prepare for their second debate on Oct. 7 at Belmont University in Nashville, Tom Brokaw gets to sift through questions submitted by you. In addition to queries from a group randomly selected by the Gallup organization, Brokaw will be fielding questions submitted online at mydebates.org, the site created by the Commission on Presidential Debates and Myspace. The focus of the town hall-style debate will be domestic and foreign policy, Brokaw's specialties.

I think just about everyone will call this a draw — which is not really bad at all for John McCain.

I think he STOPPED THE BLEEDING. His proposals were cogent and mainstream and on healthcare he won.

Now, increasingly, America will have to decide about the Barack Obama They Don’t Know.

Do not worry, I went to a live chat, on another website. Interesting discussions there on the debate. Here is just for after the debate, to reflect briefly.

I wish I’d bookmarked it: I found a copy of the letter Obama did send to Bernanke online somewhere. It was bland, did *not* have any warning about subprime loans destablizing the financial system. It was mostly an appeal to look out for the interests of the deadbeats who got into mortgages they couldn’t afford.

Thanks, I couldn’t remember for the life of me. Great character and he’d by far a better Presidential candidate.

The MSM will claim Obama won the debate, just like they do with every Democrat ever since forever.

I say McCain won on substance, but unfortunately The One gets the edge on style. We’ll see if anything changes....I don’t the debate changes anything though. What happens over the next week just might, if McCain/Palin keep socking it to Obama.

It was a nice finishing statement by Sen. McCain. He is a comfortable known quantity to most people. I think in uncertain times like, people gravitate to what is known and safe.

I think when Obama admitted he’ll force you to insure your kids, and won’t let you shop around to do it, was very telling.

And Obama wants us to reduce our energy consumption so that Iran (and Russia) don’t get rich off of us.

Oil is a global commodity. It is fungible. There are plenty of other countries like China and India that will buy oil. In case Obama doesn't know, we don't buy oil from Iran or Russia.

This is my theory. MSM tells everyone that will listen how “smart” obama is.

Main street USA can’t make sense of what he says because he doesn’t really say anything.

Then the “undecideds” after being told how smart and intellectual obama is, don’t want to feel stupid because they can’t make sense of what he says and they don’t want to admit it, so in order not to feel stupid, they act like they understand. (obama mirage.)

The obamaites think he is God or Jesus, so they believe anything.

Conservatives know that he is an “empty suit”.

Did he say his mom was “shrimping?” Like on a shrimp boat?”

I missed that. Who said it, BHO? I thought a shrimper was a Dick Morris--someone who likes toes and feet.

Wow Obama does a lot of excessive talking and STILL doesn’t answer the question.

I just caught the last half hour, and Obama seemed to be pretty successful at filibustering. He can blather on endlessly. I imagine that it's effective with "The View" crowd, though. Sounds like McCain didn't talk about Ayers or Fannie Mae. Damn.
