This is my theory. MSM tells everyone that will listen how “smart” obama is.
Main street USA can’t make sense of what he says because he doesn’t really say anything.
Then the “undecideds” after being told how smart and intellectual obama is, don’t want to feel stupid because they can’t make sense of what he says and they don’t want to admit it, so in order not to feel stupid, they act like they understand. (obama mirage.)
The obamaites think he is God or Jesus, so they believe anything.
Conservatives know that he is an “empty suit”.

The MSM always says Democrats are smart. Wilson was a professor, FDR had a brain-trust behind him, Adlai Stevenson was an egg-head, Clinton was a Rhodes scholar, Kerry was nuanced. As for Republicans, every last one was a moron, except maybe the elder Bush, who, we were constantly reminded, was a “C” student at Yale.
