The FBI and Department of Homeland Security today issued an analytical "note" to U.S. law-enforcement officials cautioning that al-Qaida terrorists have in the past expressed interest in attacking public buildings using a dozen suicide bombers each carrying 20 kilograms of explosives.
Authors with the U.S. Office of Intelligence and Analysis added that they have "no credible or specific information that terrorists are planning operations against public buildings in the United States."
*snip*
According to the note obtained by NBC News, a "recently discovered audio recording of al-Qaida training sessions conducted several years ago provides instruction to potential suicide terrorists on seizing a publicly accessible building and damaging or destroying it with explosive charges."

Maybe Obama should sit down and talk with him? Maybe the Obamessiah could persuade him not to attack us any more.
Let’s all protest. The govt. screwed us over. Bailout for the rich!
I would be a lot harder to stir up anti-American sentiment if we had a Muslim president.
I know that terrorism is no joke by any means. [Prayers up!]
But trying to crawl in bin Laden’s brain is making me laugh.

Yes, I wondered about this. My mom said the other day she read an article in which Islamist website monitors discovered a post b AQ warning Muslims to get out of the DC and New York areas on October 7, 2008 because of a coming attack. This was the same forum that posted the 9/11 threats. October 7 is the day we sent troops to Afghanistan (and also the anniversary of Lepanto, I believe). It’s also the Tuesday after Ramadan and ‘Aid al-Fitr. She also said several months ago that she read a Times Online article that quoted an Israeli intel official (Jamal Aviv I think his name was) who warned of terror attacks in the US coming sometime between August and November—before the election. He also gave us warning prior to 9/11 that something was in the works. Look out, folks.
Thanks for the ping.
Ping!
Why would NBC put this out so close to an election? McCain trumps Obama on terror. I figure NBC would deep six this news story. What gives?
Thanks for posting STARWISE. It would not be at all surprising if an attack is launched.
I find it amazing that people think that AQ would not strike us for fear that McCain would win the election. What better way for them to remind voters that the Bush administration (and I quote) “took their eye off the ball” and “distracted” us with the war in Iraq?
Especially if, as is feared by many, that the attack will take place in a port, and with a possible nuclear bomb.
Obama has repeatedly stated that a MAJOR THREAT is the nuclear proliferation AND that the Bush admin. has failed to address our ports.
Personally, though, I feel it is more likely that something will happen in Europe first, with the threat of something to happen next in the US.
And then lets just watch how the electorate responds...with the MSM in full spinmode, it will be much like they did in Spain.
Say hello to President Obama, our only HOPE for PEACE
BTW Has anyone heard much about the Iranian ship that might well be a 40,000 lb dirty bomb? I guess it just disappeared.

My first thread on FR was a couple of months ago detailing some very suspicious behavior I saw from two Arabic individuals entering a Walmart, and reading that article gave me chills. These two people got out of their car, put on backpacks, walked into the Walmart about 10-15 feet, scanned the area, and then walked out. Admittedly, it was only 2 people not the 12 described in the article, and I don’t think you could hide an assault rifle, grenade launcher, and 20 kg of explosives in a backpack.
Stay Safe, Vigilant.
Hope it is just more babble from the rabble.
20 kilograms of explosive each?
That’s a lot of explosives. 20 kilograms is 44 pounds. If we assume that it is 50% greater than the density of water, it would still be about 3 to 4 gallons in bulk. It would probably be like trying to hide a pail of drywall compound under your jacket. It is going to look really suspicious to even a casual observer. Somehow the threat itself might be credible, but the quantity of bomb-stuff sounds exaggerated.
I don’t think any attack will take place.
