Univ. of Chicago Press Release, 2002: Obama was a Community Organizer in NY
Many researchers and reporters have highlighted Obama’s secrecy about his years at Columbia University in New York City. In our recent article on Obama’s friendship with William Ayers, I wrote:
Now the Mainstream Media is onto this story too, and has (finally) noticed that Obama is hiding records from Columbia University, where he completed his undergraduate studies after transferring from Occidental College in California. To be more precise, it’s not just Obama’s academic files that are missing, but more curiously, the files of his life. The Wall Street Journal had a story Thursday entitled Obama’s Lost Years:
What can be said with some certainty is that Mr. Obama lived off campus while at Columbia in 1981-83 and made few friends. Fox News contacted some 400 of his classmates and found no one who remembered him.
Martin questions whether this mysterious period of Obama’s life has to do with William Ayers:
Is it just a coincidence that Obama and Ayers were on the Columbia campus together? Did they meet and make their initial contact at that time?
In his special Sunday night, Obama and Friends: History of Radicalism, Sean Hannity said about Obama’s years in New York: “That’s where the roadblock begins,” questioning whether Obama’s secrecy about that period is an effort to hide his radical associations. Hannity also explained how Obama’s “community organizing” work is modeled on Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals” and was merely a stepping stone for Obama’s own political ambitions.
Now it’s come to my attention, thanks to an anonymous reader, that Obama was a “Community Organizer” in New York. Why has he failed to mention this on the campaign trail?

In March of 1997, some 70 activists from more than twenty cities across the country came together in Chicago to begin planning for a Black Radical Congress. Those who gathered reflected a broad spectrum of the radical tradition. Participants came as individuals but represented connections to groups ranging from New Afrikan People's Organization, Black Workers for Justice, The Labor Party, The Communist Party, The Malcolm X Grassroots Movement, African American Agenda 2000, The Chicago Ida B. Just in observation of timelines:
1980 — The Democratic National Convention becomes the first major political party in the United States to endorse a homosexual rights platform plank
The 70s and 80s saw the rise of the Gay Rights Movement and gay rights groups. “Gay Power” meetings were held in Greenwich Village to organize based off the model of the African American Civil Rights Movement. The 70s and 80s were the organization of the homosexuals in America to fight for the equality.
I believe Hillary Rodham was around NYC at this time too. She did do her thesis on merging gay rights with politics. I believe she did some work with the Black Panthers too who are also affiliated with Stonewall, the birth place of the activism.
One more observation, Obama certainly lied about the extent of his activities for NYPIRG, but he actually was racist in terms of which students he claims to have taught recycling? Only minorities were worthy of that effort? incredible.
