Thar’s a yellah stain on Texas,
That we ain’t gonna bless
You other FReepers know how
He screwed us with this mess.

We cried so when he left us
It like to broke our hearts
And if we ever find him
We’ll chew him to parts!

He’s made a man of color
The presidential blue
The red has dried before us
Evaporated like the dew.

You may talk about a Clinton
And carp of Carter, too
But the Yellah Stain on Texas
Is the worst I ever knew.

Oh, my heart is feeling weary
And my head is hanging wane
I’m goin’ back to Georgy
To vote for John McCain.

You may talk about your Limbaugh
And sing of Han-nit-tee
But the Yellah Stain of Texas
Gave Hell to you and me!

Given today’s political/economic climate, I refuse to believe ANY politician can reach 50%. How does Obama reach 50% when he still does not have his entire party behind him?

truth is all of these polls are worthless since they can’t be tested against real people.

Independents? Not buying that there are STILL undecideds. The decision could not be more clear.

Dukakis had a lead in July and August, but by the beginning of October he had lost it to H.W. Bush. At this time in 88 it was Bush 46, Dukakis 40.

New polls today out of Virginia have Barry up by 10. We have our work cut out for us.

Good news, McCain only needs to be within 4-5 points to win the election.

“Yes it can - the election is McCain’s to lose - and he’s doing just that “

“I just hope the Ruskies don’t make me eat them fish eggs...”

I forget which cold war movie this line is in. Ring a bell with anyone?

Only if McCain comes out fighting. If not, then good Conservatives around the land that support McCain because of Palin will be dejected.

Is this still a RV poll?

You can’t beat something with nothing.

Ref: Bob Dole campaign. ............. Dole didn’t have Palin.

Here's what my take is... what I believe the conversation between Palin's team and McCain's team sounded like...

Palin - we really need to fight hard, hit him on these associations, FHLMC/FNMA, etc...

MCCain- I'm not gonna get my hands dirty... If I lose, then I need to go back to the Senate and work with these guys... If I strike hard and lose, the MSM will blast me for the rest of my days... If I don't bring out these negative charges and still lose, I will be revered by the media, for running a positive campaign, AND helping make history...

Palin- but John- we owe it to America... I'm on the team to fight, you're a fighter...

McCain... let's try this... you go on the stump and see if you can move the dial, get us some points... I'm not getting my hands dirty... IF it's effective, and we'll see the polls shortly after, I'll consider it... If it's not, there's NOTHING I'm going to do differently at the next debate, except take the high road, and speak to the facts...

Again, that's my opinion, could be way off.

True, if we can get the average down to 4 we have a shot.

When is Gallup going to do a likely voter poll?

But I think dukakis had a similar lead

Dukakis peaked right after his convention, and by the time the Republican convention closed he was already lagging in the pools and never won them again.

Remember: this is a poll of REGISTERED voters. I know we are behind, but it ain’t by eight.

This is so contrived. I’m not buying a bit of it.

Obama can’t get folks out to his rallies, yet he is the guy who is climbing in the polls.

No kidding. Everything is on the line: SCOTUS, the federal bench, Iraq, Roe. Not only do we lose all that if we lose but Obama has the opportunity to affect a major realignment. It gives him the opportunity to preside over a recovering economy. It gives him the opportunity to capture/kill Bin Laden. The simple facts of an economy recovered and getting Bin Laden along with a Democrat majority to assure no gridlock will almost assure Obama re-election.

In my opinion we would be in a much better position if John Kerry were heading down in flames now (assuming O’Connor hung around).

I think our senior conservative SCOTUS justices made a mistake not retiring during the Bush administration.
