A new SurveyUSA poll in Virginia shows Sen. Barack Obama leading Sen. John McCain by ten points, 53% to 43%.
Since a similar poll conducted just after the Republican convention, McCain has gone from up by 2 to down by 10.
Key finding: McCain no longer leads in any region of the state.
Not good.
Wasn’t that Mason Dixon poll with McCain ahead issued just a couple of days ago? Very hard to believe there could have been so much of a shift in such a short time.
The two are tied in CO and NM has Zero up by only 5. Seems unlikely he could then have jumped into this big of a lead in VA. I am not being overly optimistic that McCain will suddenly surge and win. But these numbers vary widely and it makes me wonder if all polls this year should not be taken with a grain of salt.
signs are not an indicator...my local Pub committee didn't even buy signs...they are Ron Paul devotees....so signs are being bought by individuals....
but rallies don't lie....money flowing in doesn't lie....and hussien is looking to Nebraska and to Maine for extra votes...and he's pulled out of states as well....
ONWARD TO VICTORY.......WE CAN GET'ER DONE!
keep the faith folks......keep the faith....
Bruce sprinsteen brings in 10,000 and Sarah ALONE brings in over 10,000....get the picture...
LOL... they are going insane in these polling firms.
Using this poll’s numbers, Obama leads among Independent voters by about 10% currently. However, if you revert to the 2004 voter self-identifications in VA, you get a slight lead for McCain, even assuming an 10% lead for Obama among independents. The truth is probably that McCain is behind by a couple of points due to an influx of Democrats in VA, but 10 points is insane.
Then any electoral slate challenge would be credible.
I live in the Shenandoah Valley and I can tell you that I see very few Obama sign yards, whereas four years ago there were lots of Kerry signs. There are tons of McCain signs, sometimes multiple signs for McCain in the same yard. Support for him is strong here.
The Valley does have several colleges/universities, which may account for some of the Obama support here. But enough to make it deadlocked between Obama and McCain? I don't think so.
Am I the only one who thinks there is something mighty strange with the polls lately? With all the indications of strong McCain support (such as the yard signs in this area, the swing of many PUMAs to McCain's side, the huge crowds for Palin, the strong support of evangelicals because of Palin, etc.), where are they getting all the support for Obama in their polls?
*sigh*
Vote at the poll that matters on November 4th.
Thar’s a yellah stain on Texas,
That we ain’t gonna bless
You other FReepers know how
He screwed us with this mess.
We cried so when he left us
It like to broke our hearts
And if we ever find him
We’ll chew him to parts!
He’s made a man of color
The presidential blue
The red has dried before us
Evaporated like the dew.
You may talk about a Clinton
And carp of Carter, too
But the Yellah Stain of Texas
Is the worst I ever knew.
Oh, my heart is feeling weary
And my head is hanging wane
I’m goin’ to Virginny
To vote for John McCain.
You may talk about your Limbaugh
And sing of Han-nit-tee
But the Yellah Stain on Texas
Gave Hell to you and me!
Amen.
9% DEM oversample in a state that was even in 2006.
A Farce
I don’t believe this poll at all. Especially the part about McCain not leading in any region in the state. That tells me it is false. The same about the reverse gender gap. Something is wrong with this poll.
Some of these folks are bouncing off walls,Should have bought stock in BC Powder.Stll 28 days to go.
McCain/Palin 2008
Slow down folks, these are battles in the War.
LS previously mentioned the possibility that we’re seeing a replay of 1996, where all the pollsters (save Zogby) were not just wrong, they were wildly wrong. Sure, they got the “winner” right, but Clinton’s margins were wildly overestimated. Some polls had Clinton over Dole by as much as 24 points.
President Bush 54%, Kerry 46%
72% of total voters were White: President Bush 68%, Kerry 32%
21% of the total voters were Black: President Bush 12%, Kerry 87%.
If in this laughbale poll Obama is getting 86% of the Black vote and if we keep the % of blacks and whites the same in 2004 then it means that Obama is getting 44% of the White votes. It is insane to believe that Obama is going to do better than Kerry among whites in Virginia, it is just insane.
I see the Doom-and-Gloom Drama Queen Club on here every day declaring rubbish like “This election is over,” “McCain is toast,” and “Get ready for President Obama.”
You are getting a lot of miles from this statement. You cut and past it EVERYWHERE which is fine with me, but again you cut and pasted it all over the place in 2006 and then you were SHOCKED and then demanded that voters obviously did not vote the way they wanted or were forced to vote a certain way which is why we lost. /sarc. By the way, the conservatives did come out in 2006 as always but the Independents went to the Democrats. Now listen, I can understand not looking at the polls or not believing them, but wouldn’t it be better to do somehthing about it instead of just complaining about your fellow brother and sister FREEPERS???
I wouldn’t go that far......
