NRA's second wave (ad/video at link)

The NRA is going up with its second wave of advertising against Obama, focused in Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Ohio, Minnesota and Michigan. One television ad, which will also air in Spanish, features a former Texas police officer tying gun issues to illegal immigration, saying: “Families should be able to defend themselves against rapists, drug dealers and other criminals illegally crossing our border.”

It’s unclear how widely this spot will air, but it’s supposed to go up on TV and radio today. The NRA claims that it will spend "8 figures" on broadcast advertising this cycle.

I believe a large-scale attempt to confiscate peoples' guns will result in substantial violence.

At one time I would have agreed with you 100% but after seeing the folks of New Orleans so handily subdued after Hurricane Katrina that they would so meekly surrender their weapons, I have to conclude that 99% of all Americans are going to roll over and show their bellies while whining: Please Mr Tyrant, don't harm me or my family! Not only will they surrender their guns, they'll happily turn in other family members or friends in order to ingratiate themselves with the new order. Very few folks are going to be playing Blaze of Glory by Bon Jovi when the day comes in the not too distant future.

It’s difficult to speak for a whole country.

While people did surrender their weapons in New Orleans, It doesn’t mean that the whole country will follow suit. And that one percent of (how many millions of people?) that don’t roll over might very well be all it takes to give gun-grabbers a VERY big problem.

rant/off.

Here I am, still new to posting, and I’m already arguing with a freeper.

I don’t think an Ocommie win necessarily means new gun bans. Consider that the SC just ruled on this and even though DC tried to weasel a contorted interpretation they eventually had to allow autoloaders. Can Ocommie and his ranks cause trouble? Yup. Long term damage, I think, will be highly mitigated by the latest @nd SC ruling. OTOH its always good to exercise you’re Constitutional rights and join w/ those who support them.

I would imagine NSA, FBI, Secret Service, DHS, state and local police troll this website. I also wouldn’t doubt foreign intelligence agencies either.

We haven’t seen any NRA ads in our area, but we have seen an Obama ad with an alleged NRA member saying Obama won’t take away guns.

WELCOME ABOARD! At least you're arguing in a well thought cogent manner with some logic in your answer.

You are of course, completely correct. The flip side to the coin I tossed is this: Although the vast majority of the sheep will roll over and whimper as the FBI ransack their homes, there will be that significant number of folks who constitute the actual militia as the Founding Fathers saw that entity. These men and women will have past active or reserve military experience and a great number may even be fresh from a foreign battlefield.

Think of the problems offered by Eric Rudolph for the Atlanta abortion clinic bombings. He ran the feds all over western North Carolina and tied up how many hundreds of agents for what? Three years? He was a measly private first class with standard basic and advanced infantry training. Now think of the havoc that could be wrought by thousands of Rangers, SEALs, Marine Force Recon, Army Special Forces and Delta Force folks that have successfully left the service and re-entered civilian life yet retain all their lethal skills. That group will still be but a tiny minority to the vast numbers of "normal" (apologies to freepers Travis McGee and the rest) military folks with just average service records and schooling. This kind of combat isn't about weaponry, it's foremost about the proper mindset to begin operations (read insurgency).

To get a good idea of this kind of potential, read the following essay written in 1999 by a member of the so called "Special Forces Underground" and published in a publication known as THE RESISTER found in Fayetteville, NC.I'm pretty certain that this was written in anticipation of some kind of Clinton POWER grab using the Executive Orders as a result of a Y2K "meltdown." Check out the letter, it'll make your blood run cold and your heart burst with the pride that these warriors are Americans through and through and then you'd best bow your head and say a prayer for each of them. They're really all that stands between us and darkness in this world in a finite and earthly form. Of course the real battle will take place between the Prince of Darkness and the God of the Universe but I'm thinking the SF folks stand with God Almighty.

An open letter from a 'Green Beret'

The Resister: The Political Warfare Journal of the Special Forces Underground Spring 1998 'Defector in Place--USSOCOM'

This letter is addressed to old family Reds, central bankers, military traitors (past and present), academia, media pundits, "civil rights" activists, and "Greens." Your worst fears are justified; Special Forces Underground is real. It's not just a subtitle on the Resister's masthead. Worse for you, is that it's not just in Special Forces. It exists in all branches of the military, in federal agencies, among civilians, and in several foreign countries.

I am an old Special Forces active duty soldier. I've worked with people in all branches of the military, alphabet soup federal agencies, police departments, and civilians. While most people I've worked with are passive supporters of resistance to your "global community," there are some who are willing to actively defend what they believe in.

I will continue to perform my appointed military duties in a professional manner. I will publicly agree with your collectivist policies and parrot your slogans. I pay my taxes, don't belong to any "militia," and won't join any "extremist" group. For all outside appearances I am one of your "global community" peasants.

Having traveled extensively I have seen firsthand the results of failed collectivist governments who have looted their countries into squalor. Most politically attuned people I know have seen it also and know that the only way you can achieve your global community is by doing the same to America. Some think resistance is futile. Maybe it is. But we are willing to fight you, and make you pay DEARLY for your arrogance. We are moral, principled, and believe in the ORIGINAL Constitution and the philosophies that define it.

You see, your mistake was that you thought we'd just mumble our oath and then contradict it when ordered to. but YOU,--you promoters of the "brotherhood of mankind"--are the enemies domestic we are sworn to defend the Constitution against. We didn't choose you as the enemy. By your collectivist ideologies and actions, you self selected.

We pray to the God you SCORN that the day never arrives when we are finally compelled to turn against you, what you expected us to do to enemies foreign.

If that day does arise, lament. For I, and others like me, have been trained in the blackest of arts, and the darkest of crafts. Your minions are useless cattle. They cannot protect you. You cannot hide. WE KNOW WHO YOU ARE, but you'll NEVER know whether der guten soldat you hired is one of us---or not. So, to all you altruist-collectivist global citizens:

"YOU WILL FIND NO JOY IN YOUR NEW WORLD ORDER."

When you go to the site, read the posts made by the handwringing whining liberals and then freep 'em! You don't need to even register, just post a comment. Most of them are so pathetic it's sad to consider how many morons must have gotten past the lifeguard and slipped, unseen, into the gene pool. :~(
