San Benito High School senior Jared Ballinger, who has completed basic training in the Army Reserve's Alternate Training Program and is set to finish advanced training after graduation, was driving around the campus parking lot this week with an American flag flying from the back of his truck when a school counselor flagged him down.
"I was told that flying any kind of flag, even the flag of the United States of America, wasn't allowed," said Ballinger, also noting that a school resource officer pulled up behind and took down his license plate number.
Ballinger said he's been told recently he couldn't wear a T-shirt displaying the American flag as well.
"That's where I draw the line," Ballinger told the Free Lance on Tuesday.

The schools ban the American flag, but they take the American funding, don’t they?
“Ballinger said he’s been told recently he couldn’t wear a T-shirt displaying the American flag as well.”
THIS HAS GONE WAY TOO FAR! WE ARE AMERICANS IN AMERICA FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! RAISING TAXES- SOCIALISM; AMERICAN FLAG - PATIOTISM” Let’s get it right people!
It seems Hollister got the repubation as a biker town following an infamous rally by hundreds of motorcyclists in 1947, some of whom rioted after getting drunk and rowdy. The rally inspired a number of biker movies over the years.
Reagan was a Californian and did love California.
But the land he loved more was the United States of America.
Look around you, the problem isn't just in California, it's in every state.
Take a look at your own state and see what you can do to fix the same problems there.
You know you can fly the flag of your state on your Free Republic page.
Actually, he was a downstate Illinois boy who never lost his downstate accent.
There are hundreds (if not thousands) that have in the past and will in the future participate actively.
The first Friday of each month the Fresno/Central Valley chapter of Free Republic go to a corner in Fresno to support the troops and our country.
There are many other examples, but I'm sure you get the drift.
Yes he was.
He moved to California in the thirties, and made it his home.
I stand by my statement, Ronald Reagan was a Californian.
Thanks for the input.
Yes, RR did love his adopted home state, but certain friends of mine in Illinois will forever claim him. :)
We had Street Vibrations here a couple weeks ago in Reno, NV and I saw many bikers here with ‘Hollister’ leather vests on....so just wondered.... ;)
Yep.
Doesn’t the school fly an Emerican flag?
OMG! I meant American flag. This item is disturbing.
Well, I have no problem with that!
Marxism is our nation's **most** serious threat. Schools are the Marxists **most** powerful weapon. This article is merely one example among the thousands of ways the Marxists and Useful Idiots running our schools indoctrinate the next generation of voters.
If we are to save this nation we **must** shut these government school Marxist madrasses DOWN! A property tax revolt in the voting booth could do this.
We must educate American patriots as to who and what the enemy is: Marxism, Marxists, communism, and communists. It irritates me that those who have the greatest power to educate the American public as to the true name of the enemy are SILENT! Those 2 people are Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity.
There are at least 3 of us.
There is a comment section after the article with 150 comments already. I encourage Freepers to leave a comment. These wimps will freak out when the see them tomorrow.
