Rudy blasts conservative doubters of Palin as ‘jerks’

LEWIS CENTER -- Rudy Giuliani blasted prominent conservative columnists who have criticized Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin as being unqualified and even worthy of being removed from the GOP ticket.

The former New York City mayor spoke at a press conference at the Ohio Victory campaign’s grassroots leadership conference Saturday. Giuliani was asked what he would say to columnists who’ve criticized John McCain’s selection of Palin, such as Kathleen Parker, George Will and David Frum.

“I think they look like a bunch of jerks after the debate the other night,” Giuliani said. “I think they should all say they made a mistake.”

Giuliani said Palin did a “terrific job” at the debate, overcoming the pressure put on her to perform well in front of 70 million people.

“I can’t remember a candidate who’s done a better job than her,” he said.

When Giuliani was presented with recent polls showing a minority of respondents believe Palin won the debate, he dismissed polls as stacked against Republicans.

“Republicans never win polls, they win elections,” he said. Giuliani’s wrath was not saved for conservative columnists, but of course Barack Obama and Joe Biden, whom he called phonies over their promises of change.

“This is one of the more phony political slogans. Obama and Biden are about something-or-other but it has nothing to do with change. They’re basically about going back to the old politics,” Giuliani said, specifically the Democrats desire to raise taxes, negotiate with hostile foreign governments and make backroom deals.

I love Rudy. I know a lot of people dislike him because he is pro-choice, but he was a darned fine mayor of the biggest cesspool in the country.

Anyone who is blasting Governor Palin just think that they are a “conservative.” They are closet supporters of “The One.” IMHO.

I agree. I also believe that Guiliani would have put up a bigger fight than McCain has.

In thecase of Peggy Noonan I think she’s quite open about her admiration for Obama. And she did not like being called a Georgetown cocktail paty conservative.

Rudy would have been a stronger candidate against Obama. Rudy could present himself as a true agent of change. Instead conservatives insisted on candidates who met their long list of litmus tests instead of records of achievement and competence. Conservatives chose litmus tests over competence and electability.

Thanks Rudy, I am learning to like you a lot.
Sarah Palin sets like a shining city on a hill, an example to us all. She makes the Media, who takes pot shots at her, look like real witches.

A lot of us blasted the way Palin was being handled by the McCain people and how she was coming across to the public. I don’t recall any Freeper saying she was not qualified, not a great candidate, or should be removed from the ticket.

Some of the suggestions I made over a week ago -

Palin should quit answering the dumb questions the libs were asking and just use questions as a prompt to get her points in.

Go on offense. Show her mettle. When they ask her something about McCain bring up something about Obama instead.

Get her on talk radio or live interviews every day. Quit hiding her in a closet.

Each of these tactics was employed last week and Palin is back on top. Not saying we caused the change in tactics as anyone with common sense would have realized the same things.

Changes needed to be made and happily, they have been.

Rudy will have a high-profile position in a McCain administraton.

Another very good reason to vote McCain-Palin.
