Palin slams Obama as campaign turns ugly

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is a friend to terrorists, the running mate of Republican John McCain said on Saturday in the latest sign the final month of the campaign is turning increasingly nasty.

The comment by Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin was dismissed by the Obama campaign as "gutter politics" and came shortly after the McCain campaign had already called the U.S. senator from Illinois a liar.

With polls showing McCain trailing Obama in many battleground states, including several won by Republicans in the last presidential election in 2004, Palin told reporters she will be an attack dog leading up to the November 4 election.

Speaking at a fund-raiser in Englewood, Colorado, she launched an aggressive assault on Obama just days after both candidates urged Congress to set aside partisan politics to pass a $700 billion package to free up frozen credit markets.

"Our opponent though is someone who sees America, it seems, as being so imperfect, imperfect enough that he is palling around with terrorists who would target their own country," Palin said of Obama, also calling him an embarrassment.

It seems to me McCain-Palin have to hit Obama-Biden on all fronts now. The corruption behind the “financial crisis” is probably the most effective item, but, hitting Obama elsewhere can keep him from concentrating his defense there.

Another “front” has occurred to me. On social / economic issues, Obama has a lot in common with the current Illinois Gov., Blagojevich. Not only is Blago digging himself a deeper and deeper hole with various scandals, his lib spending policies are sending Illinois into an economic toilet. His tax and other policies have business continuing to flee the state. Parallels can certainly be drawn, and the question asked: Does the USA want to be like Illinois?

For that matter, the question needs to be asked of voters: Does the USA want to be like the more socialist European countries? (Unemployment rates, etc., should be given.) If not, then voters should be asked: Why is Obama so determined to follow that model?

When Obama says he is going to decrease taxes for 95% of the people, has he ever said how he intends to do that? What I want to know is when someone tells you that he says that, what can you come back with?

Some very simple math will tell you it can't be done. Push it home.

Simple question: Why has Ayres never been prosecuted? I mean, I agree, the guy should be in jail.

This is going to take a huge effort to penetrate the economic issues everyone is obsessed about. This is a very different environment 2004 and “Swift Boating” will not work as readily. Where is Sinclair Broadcasting on a documentary about this?

Consistent with the first few posts, I myself was thinking “and it wasn’t ugly to speculate that she faked her pregnancy, etc, etc...” and all the trash that has followed that.

Really now, a good portion of the dimmedia qualify as domestic enemies and I think there are oaths in that regard...

It’s time we see just how thin-skinned he really is.

Actually yes.

Push him hard daily until he cracks and his extremely fake veneer shatters.

“That issue was lost with the bailout. If you don’t beleive that you didn’t see the glee in the Democrats after passage.”

I can’t agree. People are still upset about the bailout. Keep stressing how much money is at risk for each taxpayer, how much was added in that was unnecessary (150 billion) (McCain needs to explain that he supported the bailout bill VERY reluctantly, and that in fact it is a perfect example of why “add-on” earmarks should be ended.) But, most of all, hit those politicians responsible for the financial mess. Palin has the “connection” as an anti-corruption crusader now, and as a “someone like me” person, too. That may not last once the MSM goes after her further. She needs to hit the corruption behind this scandal, hard, NOW.

It's not about ayers , it's about his O ness . Economic issues won't go away , don't worry. Why not tie O to ayers if you can ? Let America know who these weathermen are are and the dozens of domestic terror acts they are responsible for . This is not about what happened in Nam , it is what happened in the USA.

The voters need to know these things about Obama. If they still vote for him, then at least they cannot claim they did not know.

Palin slams Obama as campaign turns ugly...all Palin did was point out that Obama associated with a known terrorist - if that's "ugly", the press is pretty much admitting that it's not very nice to be associating with known terrorists.......

I agree with that. It's too late for a lesson in finance to make a point. All people knew was after the first vote failed their 401k's lost money...The Democrats past it the second time...that's all they know. They know it because that's what the cut and paste media told them.

I think the time for your/our wishes are coming. If it comes up too soon, by the time Nov.4 comes around it will be forgotten.

Oh, and Michelle Obama’s “Barack isn’t afraid to choose a smart person as VP” line. Just ordinary campaign discourse, no ugliess at all.

If you want ugliness, wait until they stop keeping Michelle out of sight and start letting her make public pronouncements again. NO CYNICISM ALLOWED!

I may have to change my middle name to “I told you so” since I will be saying it so much.

Oh, I see. It wasn’t an ugly campaign until just now, when Sarah started out. Thank you, Reuters scumbags.

Precisely.
As freeper LeonardFMason said on this thread:

ABC News: Obama About to Be Hit on Questionable Associates

PREDICTION: The MSM will release some polls after the the McCain campaign rightly adopts this strategy. The polls will show a “growing” advantage for the ONE. MSM conclusion and talking point.....the attacks are not working. BOOK IT.

Palin has raised a legitimate concern, which has never been adequately explained by Obama. It's good she's turning up the heat on this Marxist who would be POTUS.
