Bottomless Bailout (Washington's Porkers Say $700 Billion Is NOT Enough. Of Course!)

They put a gun to our heads. They ate Crap Sandwich 2.0. Washington’s pork-stuffed panic mob forked over $700billion/$850billion/$1 trillion-plus of our money over to the Chicken Littles, who handed it over to Foxy Loxy at the Treasury Department.

And now?

And now, they tell us it’s not enough.

It’s never enough.

After Bush and Paulson threatened to shoot the dog and wreck the economy, Congress finally gave in. Guess what? $700 billion isn't enough for Washington's porkers. They'll be back. So much for small government and fiscal discipline.

Congresscritters should be subjected to a drinking game:

1 shot for every billion appropriated
1 shot for every earmark you include in a bill

I think government would work so much better.

It's ill-gotten and all but illegitimate to most right-thinking Americans. Those 'politicians' who complain that it's not enough, better take what they got, call themselves lucky and MAKE DO... because that's what their ‘bailout’ has forced us into!

Uh, go back and read that bit about "$700B" again. That's not the total, that's the amount in holdings at any given time. As in: buy $700B in bad loans, declare them worthless, lather, rinse, repeat.

It's $700B in increments.

Now that the market belongs to the government I wonder what shenenigans will take place in order to manipulate the market to individual congressmen’s benefits.

Mr. REID: In summary, if we could afford to authorize $700 billion last evening to assist financial forces to unclog credit markets, to begin to provide support for the economy, then we certainly can afford to help individuals who are looking for work and can't find it and are desperate.

This bailout reminds me of the story that Larry the Cable Guy relates about his horse with a broken leg. Folks told him to shoot the horse, which he did, then he said “ If it dosen’t get better by next week he will shoot it again”.
How many times to we shoot the horse?

I don’t know if Acorn is in or out.....but can guarantee if there was a way to get it put in (and say it wasn’t) then you can be sure it is buried somewhere in the bill.
As someone who has always stood by President Bush and supported him I have increasingly become so disappointed in him that I couldn’t watch him sign this monstrosity of a bill without crying. I feel totally betrayed by all he has done over the years to increase government....as someone who is 73 I can only hope to live long enough to see someone step forward who will be strong enough to lead a somewhat “revolution” to return this country to the way it should be.........not sure that I’ll see it happen....and yes I am depressed!!
