John McCain is pulling out of Michigan, according to two Republicans, a stunning move a month away from Election Day that indicates the difficulty Republicans are having in finding blue states to put in play.

It’s a real shame we can’t just reverse the ticket so we could win.

Re: “Being from Michigan today it is very depressing to know that your vote doesnt make a difference. Especially in light of the next two debates which were before the next Michigan appearance. I guess I can just go fishing on election day”
Hey, imagine living in California! My “R” vote for President is always a waste. Yet I persist — get a great feeling voting for the underdog, and of course need to vote on all the other issues and people running for more local offices. You can go fishing AFTER you vote on election day, okay??????????
what happened to the man that was grabbing the podium at the convention, screaming come on fight with me fight with me???What made Him lose his fight in Washington meeting????
You should change your sig line to “All it takes for the triumph of evil is for men to repeat everything humanly possible that is negative about the candidate they should be supporting”
Cripes it’s a AP feed. >:(
“By NEDRA PICKLER, Associated Press Writer
EAST LANSING, Mich. - Republican presidential candidate John McCain is giving up on winning Michigan.
Republican officials with knowledge of the strategy said the GOP candidate is shifting resources to other states. Democrat John Kerry won here in 2004, but McCain had tried to make it a target to switch parties this year amid economic problems in the state...”
AP throws out crap and you regurgitate it as truth?
Thanks for the info!
Amen to that! And thanks for all your hard work.
“The people of Michigan deserve everything they get. “
South-East Michigan.
The rest of us live in a very red territory, under their administration, that has yet to be admitted to the union as its own state.
Guys, this is a frightening move, and it makes me wonder just how bad this election could be.
I think we still can win this, but we need to do something to get voters excited. Contract with America II?
Frankly, we have had 8 years of the GOP, so a Dem winning may be inevitable right now, but I don’t think so at the moment.
We can pull this out with the right moves.
But, this is a bad sign for Michigan at least.
Great post, lovesdogs. Everyone needs to step back and take a deep breath. This economic “crisis” is just making people crazy. I am willing to bet that by the end of next week, McCain will be even or ahead in most national polls. By the way, I love dogs too. :)
Polls can change. Trolls never change. All we can do is work hard and GOTV. BTW, what is accomplished by fretting over every poll that doesn’t say what you want it to say? Worry about what you can do and not about what(polls)you can’t control.
She can make or break the campaign....at least that's the perception by some.
I wouldn't be in this lady's shoes tonight for all the expensive salmon in Alaska.
Praying hard......

The key problem with McCain is his damned root-canal economics. Yes, spending control is important, but people are not going to get fired up about earmark reform. They want to hear about tax cuts and economic growth.
McCain is not, and never will be, a supply-sider. That is the fundamental problem. He cannot sell something he does not believe in.
Yes, I will proudly cast my ballot for McCain-Palin and encourage others to do the same. It is also remarkable that McCain is still within 5-6 points of Obama.
That said, from the beginning I was an avid Romney supporter because he, like Reagan in 1976 and 1980, could run against Washington.. Think how much stronger we would now be. Thanks, Mike Huckabee, for delivering BO to us on a silver platter.
“I look forward to reading more about the McCain landslide predictions ...”
McCain is on offense. Hussein needs to protect his states. So what if he is backing off on one, he still has a bunch other that he is forcing Hussein to defend. You can have a landslide without Michigan. They are a welfare state (the people and the auto industry) anyway. Not voting for a Republican anytime soon.
RE: “MANY are not telling the truth. On the left you have the cellphone only people, and the ones that talk big but never turn out to vote. On the right you have the great Silent Majority, who keepp their mouths shut, and if they DO talk to pollsters would NEvER admit to a stranger that they wont vote for this particular black man. (I understand some of them wouldnt vote for any BM, but some of them just understandably dont like BO.)
Its pretty hard to make a solid prediction these days. It could still go 49-1 for McCain”
Totally AGREE! These polls are changing faster than what’s going on with the various “crises” in DC. Most people are too busy with daily life to spend all their time monitoring the election. Not everyone is glued to political websites/TV/radio all day long.
I refuse to “go wobbly” now, a full month before the election. McCain/Palin on November 4 !!!!!
Hey, I can appreciate your optimism, but the McCain camp is apparently confirming this to be true (see up-thread).
So, don’t shoot the messenger, eh?
