The Irish treated the Jews, Poles, and Italians like the Brahmin treated them, some would argue worse (the Brahmins never threw bricks and bottles at Italian kids, nor would they take the pants off of Jewish kids who walked into their neighborhoods). ;-)

I was merely pointing out the difference between the Shanty and Lace Curtain Irish.

All new waves of immigrants were treated like crap by the older waves.

Though I'm sure the Italians were virtuous to a man when the next wave of ethnically different immigrants arrived in their wake fighting for the same jobs... :-)

BTW, the city I come from had a huge Italian population, and I've always had a great affection for Italians (some of my best relatives are half of each).
