Michelle Bernard: McCain's Moves 'Like an Epileptic Fit'

How unbalanced was MSNBC's "Race for the White House" panel this evening? The two Obama-friendly panelistsEugene Robinson of the Washington Post and Richard Wolffe of Newsweekwere ostensibly offset by Philly radio talker Michael Smerconish and Independent Women's Forum head Michelle Bernard. But channeling Dem congressman James Clyburn on this morning's Today, Smerc called the House Republicans "sophomoric." That was nothing. One-upping Smerconish in the pejorative department, Bernard said that every recent McCain move has been "like an epileptic fit."
Joe Scarborough, putting in a long day's work and subbing for regular host David Gregory, teed up Bernard's snipe with a negative take of his own on McCain's behavior.

He moves like that because he was wounded. Epileptics move like that because they have a medical problem.
Evidently she thinks the two are fair ground for pointing out and insulting.

When I was growing up, we used to laugh about Pravda and the poor Russians who got no real information from their press.
Now it’s here.

In fairness, she was talking about his political moves, not his physical ones. But it was still a very tacky term to use.

Perhaps if her father had been beaten and tortured for seven years she’d have the good sense to STFU.

Under contacts, this was provided: info@iwf.org
There was no email list for Michelle Bernard. However, you can see other direct email addresses and guess the naming convention for Ms. Bernard.
And no, we are not related.

McCain looks stiff and unnatural sometimes. When he raises his arm to wave to a crowd he winces in pain. Just moving around is painful for this man. This is due to the horrific torture he underwent as a captive U.S. POW. She should purchase a clue.

His slide from Conservative to Liberal has been going on for years. I turned his radio show off after 2004 elections. He belongs on Air America now.

Thanks for the quick fix. I think it was particularly important because the original headline was leading some readers to think Bernard was talking about McCain’s physical moves.

Yet another Dem pointing out why the Leftist dream has nothing to do with equality for People with Disabilities.

I remember Michael J fox from 2006. When rush impersonated his moves on his ditto cam and was taken to the woodshed by the msm.

In fairness, I believe Bernard was talking about McCains political moves, not his physical ones. But it was still a very tacky term to use.
To: governsleastgovernsbest
In today's PC culture, it was an idiotic term to use (whether she was referencing his political or physical movements). She places herself in the public forum, therefore, she must be aware of the damage her words can do. Bringing the seizures of an epileptic to a polical discourse as any point of reference serves no purpose other to insult and shock. She needs called out on this, and she needs to learn sensitivity to the physically and medically challenged. An apology to both epileptic sufferers as well as Sen. McCain is due.
And yes...I am reacting as a liberal would. No understanding. No parsing. A slur is a slur is a slur. Remediation needed.
