Some moms are asking: Would Palin help us as VP?
New York Times (Associated Press) ^ | September 30, 2008

NEW YORK (AP) -- As Sarah Palin gets set for this week's debate grilling on topics from foreign policy to the economy, some fellow working mothers are hoping she'll get grilled on something else, too: Her ability to stand up for them in Washington.

Sure, Palin is a working mother herself, something that women voters across the political spectrum have noted with genuine excitement. But what, some women want to know, would Palin do for them as vice president? Would she stand for paid maternity leave? Expanded family leave and flexible work hours? Better health care?

''Where is she on all of this? I just don't feel any empathy from her as a woman,'' says Nina Dulabaum, a Chicago educator and mother who is a self-described independent voter.

A group of fellow mothers connected to the grass roots group MomsRising tried to ask such questions of the Alaska governor last week. Putting their questions in writing, they went to her Washington office to leave their petition, the group says -- but were told they needed to mail it instead. (Palin herself was in New York.)

The group is concerned that Palin hasn't shared her positions on the hot-button issues concerning working women, says Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner, who co-founded MomsRising three years ago. And while the members -- close to 200,000, she says -- are ''absolutely delighted'' to see a working mom on center stage, they're also quite aware of the differences between Palin, who had her fifth child only months ago as governor, and many other women.

Looking at the MomsRising site http://www.momsrising.org/ and reading the article, it is obvious that their agenda is to expand the welfare state, and they will vote heavily Democratic. That's their right, but it would be nice if the media labelled left wing groups as such. An article would never interview a group of women from a conservative group such as Concerned Women for America http://www.cwfa.org/main.asp and present them as representative of all American women.

One of the founders of MomsRising, Joan Blades, was a co-founder of MoveOn.org http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joan_Blades .

McCain/Palin do need a "message" for working mothers, but they obviously are not going to convince the women in the article.

Palin has more balls than McPain.

McPain is LOSING the election with his holier than thous righteousness. He needs to GROW A SET FAST.

Obama cleaned his clock on the economic part of the debate last week. McPain missed so many opportunities it still makes me dizzy. McPain was good on foreign policy but there was no excuse for McPain to screw up on the economy. Obama is a street thug. You need to respond DIEFFERENTLY to a street thug.

The media only labels “Right Wing” groups, because the left is “normal”.

Eleanor Roosevelt was admired by many liberal women...

Liberals think that the former First Lady and Ambassador to the UN was an accomplished and mature woman who had the kind of gravitas that Sarah Palin lacks.

If you have 20 seconds to spare you can see a quick YouTube video about
Eleanor Roosevelt's thoughts on an important domestic issue

Palin is more of a woman than those that question her ever will be...that’s why they don’t get her.

Oh, they get her all right, they know that she breaks the feminazi rule: If you are a breeder, you are not fit to be a leader!

“But what, some women want to know, would Palin do for them as vice president?”

Well, for starters, she won’t weaken the nation by gutting the Department of Defense to pay for BS liberal programs.

Instead, she will work with the President to continue to strengthen the worlds most exquisite all volunteer military in the history of the world — pretty much everything after that is icing on the cake, I mean, look at europe, that wanted socialized medicine, they wanted to weaken their defense department, they wanted to be citizens of the world — now, they have sharia law...ooooohhhhhhh goodie.

Yeah, I think I’m good with America First, America Always, God Bless America!

obambi...hum, him, I know he will gut the military, just like the last dumbocrap that lived in the white house...great job BJ...no thanks — I know how that ends — America perceived weak throughout the world and an attack on the world trade center in 1994, Yemen (the USS COLE), two embassy bombings, Khobar Towers, and a drastically weakened military to defend the nation after 9/11...an attack the could have been prevented if the BJ had acted in time to kill Osama...”first thing first - the defense of the nation.”

I think its more envy. She has a great husband who encourages her to be the best she can be, she doesnt have to hate men because shes been rejected and is secure in herself and her own capabilities. She also has family and friends and a good support system and doesnt need a multitude of housekeepers, nannies and faux missions or activities to try to make herself feel worthwhile and important. She is comfortable in her own skin, something they will never get the hang of. She doesn’t have to prove to anyone who she is or what she is, unlike those vocal feminists who will forever try to prove they have value by devaluing another woman. What they don’t realize is in their pursuit they belittle themselves not their target.

“Dulabaum, of Chicago, has been trying to look beyond the symbolism, and hasn’t seen enough there. With three small children, she’s been seeking full-time work for several years. Instead she’s settled for a combination of part-time jobs.”

Small wonder. She writes a handbook called:Mediation: Mediation: The ABCs. The Art of Dealing with Conflicts Effectively.

Then shows she is ineffective in dealing with conflicts effectively by negating someone she should otherwise relate to. That gets back to ..look at me, look at me, aren’t I important?

I just listened. He re-ran the interview with Jim Geraghty (sp?) commenting on each answer.

I love this woman! I think they should just let her loose on all the shows, and let America fall in love with her all over again! She is one of us, and she comes across as authentic and sincere. They need to just let her be who she is. FREE SARAH!

The NY Times drumbeat goes on. "Conservatives hate Palin and want her to withdraw." BS. "Palin is too inexperienced for VP." BS. "Moms are asking: 'Would Palin Help Us?'" BS.

This is the tedious aimed at the credulous. At some point the manipulation becomes so obvious that nobody listens, but that doesn't mean it stops.
