A political scientist at a Christian college in New York City warns that if Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama loses the election on November 4, race riots could break out in large U.S. cities.
A recent Associated Press-Yahoo News poll suggested Senator Obama's race could cost him up to six percentage points on election night. David Corbin, a politics professor at The King's College, contends there is potential for public riots the night of or after the election, if Obama's lead in the polls does not translate into victory.
"I don't think that's something that we've looked at very closely, and I think that this could be a powder keg here as we get towards that day, given that Senator Obama is an African-American and given that there might be some backlash if he actually loses," Corbin explains.
Corbin notes that seemingly small stories involving O.J. Simpson and Rodney King have brought into play terrible riots in major cities across the U.S. "I think a lot of people are looking to an Obama presidency to affirm the notion that somehow Americans aren't racist and, if for some reason Senator Obama loses, then it's just, 'Oh well, it's said and done. We must be a racist nation,'" Corbin adds.
People who fuel that claim of racism, according to Corbin, do damage to one of Senator Obama's main themes -- moving beyond a red-and-blue, or black-and-white America.
Obama does overpoll as proven during the primaries.
Count on it. That makes me mad because I don’t want to see Americans destroying each other or property. However, the mindset being whipped up by the media is going to leave a lot of people frustrated and it is usually the more depressed areas that see the most violence,IMO.
The Blackstone Rangers actually served a purpose during the latter, and kept the local hooligans from rioting on blocks they controlled on the south and west sides. Jeff Fort, their leader, was a Republican after all (but still a criminal).
Sure, there’ll be riots if B.O. loses.
There’ll also be riots if B.O. wins. They’ll start as soon as the BObots figure out that they’ve been deceived by the Great Pretender and that all his promises are hot air.
Hell, they riot in Detroit when they WIN a basketball championship.
Prepare to meet Mr. Boomstick!
If Obama was assassinated, then riots would happen. If he merely loses the election there will be increased surliness for a while.
Sounds pretty racist to me.
I really don’t give a damn anymore. I don’t live there, and Ann Arbor doesn’t riot, just cries when their candidate loses.
Look at it like this. If there are riots that tear apart major urban centers in this country, then this will create all sorts of jobs for people to clean up and fix the destruction. Therefore, the economy is saved! GO McCain/Palin!
If the ‘peaceful revolution for Change’ does not happen; then a less peaceful one, could very likel, already be embedded. It is ‘who’ these people are. Should this happen; can only say, ‘bring it on’.
Locked and loaded, let’s roll!
I wonder if the margin of loss would make a difference. Would there be more or less civil unrest if it were 55-45, instead of one of the squeakers we’ve had the last few times. That could either be interpreted as “a lot of racist white people”, or “it was useless to hope that this could happen, not worth getting upset about.”
I’ve already posted this but since you axed me:

You won’t be able to tell who won by the riots, fires, and other destruction.
You're right. If Obama loses: riots, fires, etc.
If the Republicans lose only riots.
They, like Mohammed, who is running out of virgins, are now running out of derelict houses to torch.
Given that John is too busy reaching out to the other side on this “crisis” I very much doubt that we will have to find out as it is looking like we will have to say, President Obama.
That's G. Gordon Liddy's line.
More problems for Asians.
