In Ohio, Slight Movement to Obama, But Fight for 20 Electoral Votes Still Even: In an election for President of the United States held in Ohio today, 09/30/08, Republican John McCain and Democrat Barack Obama finish within one point of each other, according to this latest, WHIO-TV/SurveyUSA.
Today, it's McCain 49%, Obama 48 -- McCain's nominal 1-point lead within the survey's 3.8 percentage point margin of sampling error. Compared to an identical SurveyUSA poll released 15 days ago, Obama is up 3 points; McCain is flat.
McCain leads by 17 points among those who earn more than $50,000 a year. Obama leads by 21 points among those who earn less than $50,000 a year. McCain leads 5:4 in Columbus, Cincinnati, and Toledo. Obama leads 5:4 in greater Cleveland.

Filtering: WHIO-TV/SurveyUSA interviewed 900 Ohio adults 09/28/08 and 09/29/08. Of the adults, 819 were registered to vote. Of the registered voters, 693 were determined by SurveyUSA to be likely voters in the 11/04/08 general election. Interviews conducted during an unprecedented time of financial and political turmoil.
Ohio has 20 Electoral College votes. George W. Bush carried Ohio by 2 points in 2004 and by 4 points in 2000.

Lot’s of “Democrat for McCain” yard signs around the Youngstown suburbs. This was Hillary territory.
On another note - I loathe the early voting here and what the Obama people are doing with scare tactics for the blacks in the area.
A majority of Ohio voters would prefer McCain. However, the Dems have moved a lot of “their people” from the Red and Blue states into Purple (or battleground) states. They get them registered at an address of a Dem sympathizer, and can vote via absentee in Ohio. Can mail in application for absentee ballot and receive a ballot to mail back in. It just begs for “fraud” to occur. However, I am told this practice is “legal” if they don’t also vote in their home states. If this practice is widespread enough, it could tilt the end result.
I would agree, but DrDeb says the ground game in OH is a shell of what it was in 2004 for Republicans. What gives?
I believe that but do you have a link to where Democrats are committing fraud by registering in battleground states where they do not live in?
The vote here is either pro-Palin or anti-Obama. Very few people are hyped about McCain.
Moreover, in 04, the "ground game" mostly consisted of evangelicals and Reagan Republicans, neither of which has been courted by McCain's people.
Greater Cleveland is 3 million people, and Northeast Ohio, where Democrats tend to run better than Republicans, is about 5 million people.
Ohio’s entire population is about 12 million, so yeah, Cleveland is that much bigger.

I still think McCain will win OH through no effort of his own. There is a ton of redneck Dem racism here. Look at the gaps between the polls on Blackwell and the final tallies in 2006.
