It depends on why we have to bail out foreign banks.

If I was a foreign bank, and our corrupt bankers sold them "liar loan" paper rated AAA and they weren't aware, our bankers screwed them over, and I'd be mighty pissed.

Don't get me wrong, I don't like this, and would rather see our corrupt bankers rot in prison.

Thanks for the ping - this will likely be good for my diet because I’ll probably lose my appetite.

Dodd Announces “Hope for Homeowners Act”
Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, today announced his intention to introduce legislation that will create a new program within the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) to provide aid to distressed borrowers currently trapped in mortgages they cannot afford. Under the “HOPE for Homeowners Act of 2008,” new mortgages that are offered by FHA-approved lenders will refinance abusive loans at a significant discount for homeowners facing difficulty meeting their mortgage payments.

If we exclude “foreign” banks that have branches here, we could have major international problems, considering we depend on foreigners to live. $2B a day. What will they think if we shove them under the bus? Will they retaliate? Will we worsen the GLOBAL credit crisis?

It’s really amazing how they can get this bailout together so quickly.

Magically they all agree that we are doomed unless they spend our money.

What do the rest of us do when the budget get tight? STOP SPENDING!

But our illustrious leaders KNOW better.

Don’t just hope, make it so. Vote and get out the vote. I’ll be at the polling station 6:30 AM on election day.

But I see no reason to believe Obama will win or that Democrats will create a filibuster-proof Congressional majority. Conservatives will come out because of Palin, moderates are already for McCain, and conservative Democrats would rather die than vote Obama.

The kook fringe of the Democrat Party is not large enough to force a wacko lib into office.

What makes an abusive loan? They signed, no coercement was involved. In many cases the signees were engaged n fraud.

This whole thing reaks of scam and fraud.

It should be beyond obvious if the leftist Dem congressional leadership, Mr Fed and the former CEO of Goldman Sachs are pushing this latest version of the Banking Inc bailout it's not kosher, not at all!

Pg. 43 line #18 - It’s a ram thought ammendment.

Yep...automatically rammed through in House. And check out the Senate's "Fast-Track" provision...

Debate on the joint resolution, and on all debatable motions and appeals in connection therewith, shall be limited to not more than 10 hours, which shall be divided equally between the majority and minority leaders or their designees. A motion further to limit debate is in order and not debatable.

As a point of reference, in 2000, the national debt was under 6,000,000,000,000 (six trillion).

That's compassionate conservatism for you--Dubya style .

Not only do we have to understand the 110 pages of the 'bailout', but we need to understand the implications of this other Act which will become effective immediately.

Good catch! More "relief" there!
