Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Dear Heavenly Father, We thank You for this day and for Your grace and mercy towards us. We thank You for Your plan for our lives and for our country. We pray for Your forgiveness concerning this countries rejections of Your way and ask that You would guide her back into the right path.

Father, as I pray today, our economy is in a shambles but worse than that the hearts of my fellow countrymen have become dull. They are about to make such mistakes of monumental proportion that I shudder for our future - and yet, You are still God.

Be with this President. Help him to have wisdom which prevails and a heart to do right. Be with Senator McCain and Governor Palin that they would be able to prevail over the media machine which is clearly trying to destroy them. Be with all of them to keep them safe from harm - and may You be glorified in this country still.

I pray for these prayer warriors who come to You knowing that You are a great God and that there is nothing too hard for You. I pray for Free Republic which is still a place of freedom in a land where that is threatened, & for JimRob that his health and spirit would be strengthened by Your power. And, Lord, I pray for the men and women of America - that the blinders would fall off and that they would come to their senses before it is too late.

Go with us Lord the rest of this day and be with our services. For it is in the blessed name of Jesus my Lord that I pray these things. Amen.

Joining you in agreement on your thoughtful prayer.

Dear Father, let our faithful Congressmen know that we are fully behind them in this fight against the darkness and failure of our corrupt money changers.

We must rid this country of its corruption and ongoing indebtedness. If one’s own state cannot pay for developments, why should the national taxpayers shoulder their burden?

Lord, we are united states, for our protection, not to burden each other with our self serving schemes. Let us reject state sponsored earmarks, which add daily to our national debt.

You gave Shakespeare a ration of sage advice in his play “Hamlet” over four hundred years ago:

“Neither a borrower nor a lender be;...” We must heed that advice, now.

Showing Up
Because He has inclined His ear to me, therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live. —Psalm 116:2

Leonardo da Vinci spent 10 years drawing ears, elbows, hands, and other parts of the body in many different aspects. Then one day he set aside the exercises and painted what he saw. Likewise, athletes and musicians never become great without regular practice.

For years I resisted a regular routine of prayer, believing that communication with God should be spontaneous and free. But I found that I needed the discipline of regularity to make possible those exceptional times of free communication with God. Eventually I learned that spontaneity often flows from discipline.

The writer Nancy Mairs says she attends church in the same spirit she goes to her desk every morning to write, so that if an idea comes she’ll be there to receive it. I approach prayer the same way. I keep on whether it feels like I am profiting or not. I show up in hopes of getting to know God better, perhaps hearing from Him in ways accessible only through solitude.

The English word meditate derives from a Latin word that means “to rehearse.” Often my prayers seem like a kind of rehearsal. I go over basic notes (the Lord’s Prayer), practice familiar pieces (the Psalms), and try out a few new tunes. Mainly, I show up.

Prayer is the simplest form of speech
That infant’s lips can try;
Prayer the sublimest strains that reach
The Majesty on high. —Montgomery

Prayer is an intimate conversation with our God.

Amen in complete agreement. Father, we are beset with problems that are far too complicated and we cannot solve them without You. You are the answer. When we as a nation stray from You, we get into big messes because of our greed, our failure to understand Your ways, and our fear of standing for the truth. But we know that no situation is greater than You; no person or group of people can outmaneuver or outsmart You. Great are You Lord and Worthy of all honor, glory, praise, and blessing. We ask You to help us in this time of need to preserve our nation as it was intended by our founding fathers. You are able, Lord, and we give You all the praise for answering us in ways far more wonderful than we can imagine or think. In the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Amen to your prayer Blogger. Thank you for the prayer.

I would like to pray for the protection of Sen. John S. McCain, Gov. Sarah Palin, President George W. Bush, and our troops. I pray that their enemies will fall, and they will be protected from those who mean them harm. I pray that you will be with them, and guide them, and lead them to victory in all they do.

Thank you for the Blessings of Liberty. Amen.
