Barack Obama played the "me too" game during the Friday debates on September 26 after Senator John McCain mentioned that he was wearing a bracelet with the name of Cpl. Matthew Stanley, a resident of New Hampshire and a soldier that lost his life in Iraq in 2006. Obama said that he too had a bracelet. After fumbling and straining to remember the name, he revealed that his had the name of Sergeant Ryan David Jopek of Merrill, Wisconsin.
Shockingly, however, Madison resident Brian Jopek, the father of Ryan Jopek, the young soldier who tragically lost his life to a roadside bomb in 2006, recently said on a Wisconsin Public Radio show that his family had asked Barack Obama to stop wearing the bracelet with his son's name on it. Yet Obama continues to do so despite the wishes of the family

Meanwhile, his buddies and Annenberg Challenge colleagues, Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, each have a ring given to them by the North Vietnamese communists! The rings are made of metal from U.S. planes shot down over Vietnam.
From American Thinker, September 16, 2008
Article: Obama's Foul Weather Friends
By Scott Swett and Roger Canfield
"As a gesture of solidarity, the Vietnamese who Dohrn met in Budapest presented her with a ring made from an American aircraft shot down over North Vietnam. Bill Ayers would receive a similar ring while meeting with Vietnamese communists in Toronto. He later recalled being so moved by the gesture that he 'left the room to cry.' He said, 'I realized...America was an evil... and that I was... living inside the belly of the beast...' "

Well he wasnt wearing it when he cancelled visiting wounded troops in Germany, and instead chatted up a reporter and worked out at a gym in July.
Maybe it was in his pocket. According to
electionweb.blog, these pictures show what the presidential candidates carry around in their pockets as "lucky charms".(from a Time Magazine photo essay)
Obama - A U.S. soldiers bracelet, gamblers lucky chit, Madonna and Child charm, tiny monkey god, and three or four other unidentified items, among which seems to be a slug, an angel coin, and another Virgin Mary charm,
McCain - Lucky Penny

Has Obama been wearing it routinely, or just for the debate? I've seen a few pictures of him at rallies with his shirtsleeves rolled up, and don't see any wristbands.

I think there is room to doubt what the “ex wife”, a liberal Obama supporter, told Obama when SHE gave him the bracelet and what SHE thinks about this.
I think in this case the Jopeks are on opposites ends of this, not Obama. Like Sheehan redux.
“He said-she said” is not a basis for acccusing Obama of going against the family in this case.
But that said, the bracelet-wearing Obama the dumsh#t ought to memorize the soldier's name and chant a prayer for him once in a while.

Lets see you backtrack out of THIS, BO. He will, I'm sure. He'll either sweet-talk the mother into changing her story, browbeat both parents until they give in, or just simply lie, and the media will yawn and scream "Palin is an idiot!"

Ray Nagin as Sec. of Homeland Security? Naah, not Nagin, Bill Ayers. Nagin could be head of FEMA or Secretary of Transportation. :)

“Sadly, if a public figure is politically correct, nothing bad he does matters, and if he is politically incorrect, the slightest thing becomes a major scandal.”
Exactly.
Barney Frank can sit around while his boy-toy runs a male prostitution ring out of his house. Media says squat. But... hey! Sarah Palin wore a one piece bathing suit in a beauty contest 20 years ago and it’s “news.”

Never underestimate the stupidity of the American public, especially on election day. Also do not underestimate the influence of the main stream media upon these individuals, my FRiend.

Where is media?
Well, in this case, I’d say media is doing it’s job.
Dad Jopek was asked about the bracelet, he replied, and now we’re all reading about it.
Takes a while to fact-check all the baloney in a presidential debate. Bless old Henry Kissinger for quickly setting the record straight in the case of his misquote.

1. A nationwide propaganda spewing loyal media infatuated with him.
2. Gestapo-like Truth Squads (law enforcement and elected officials responsible for suppression of Free Speech)
3. Obama Youth - Children taught songs in support of Obama (very scary to watch...)
4. Mesmerizing speaking to crowds where he works them by using their emotions, while never really letting on his true intentions.
5. Offices across the country that are teaching Alinsky radical methods.
Power is not a means, it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship.
