Family Told Obama NOT To Wear Soldier Son's Bracelet... Where is Media?
Newsbusters ^ | September 28, 2008 | Warner Todd Huston

Posted on 09/28/2008 4:12:21 AM PDT by Tom_Busch

Barack Obama played the "me too" game during the Friday debates on September 26 after Senator John McCain mentioned that he was wearing a bracelet with the name of Cpl. Matthew Stanley, a resident of New Hampshire and a soldier that lost his life in Iraq in 2006. Obama said that he too had a bracelet. After fumbling and straining to remember the name, he revealed that his had the name of Sergeant Ryan David Jopek of Merrill, Wisconsin.

Shockingly, however, Madison resident Brian Jopek, the father of Ryan Jopek, the young soldier who tragically lost his life to a roadside bomb in 2006, recently said on a Wisconsin Public Radio show that his family had asked Barack Obama to stop wearing the bracelet with his son's name on it. Yet Obama continues to do so despite the wishes of the family

This might very well be the BEST comment that McCain can make in his next debate.... “ OH by the way Barak.... half of your bracelet belongs to ME”!!!!!!

Steve is great and very conservative. Brian has his moments now where he gets a crush on Barry. I think Gretchen and Alyson really dig Sarah. Did you happen to see when the guy from Red Eye was on yesterday? It was fabulous--all three Friends agreed with everything Greg said. From my post yesterday:

Great analysis just now by Greg Gutfeld, from Red Eye. Barry was an empty suit--where was the charisma, charm and personality? It was like he was auditioning for a position in Mac's cabinet. Steve pointed out that Mac did not look old at all and Greg said that Barry looked stiff. Greg said the most important part was the last question on 9/11 and how Barry answered about the world perceiving us--he's consumed with being liked and popular. Then Brian brings up how Barry wants to bring back the 60's talking about his dad from Kenya and says--the 60's I saw were racial tensions, assassinations, if there ever was a time not to come to America! Greg says--they have been romanticizing the 60's for 50 years now, when are these people going to go away! About the VP debate Greg said it would be between a guy with amazing hair plugs who's going to make 30 gaffes and an amazing woman who is like a dog whistle to the angry liberals.

I have to agree with your analysis; I saw it and enjoyed the Gutfeld discussion.

RedEye is one of my guilty pleasures—when I waken in the middle of the night, I can’t help having at least one good laugh.

At least the MSM used to try and deny their bias.

This year, they really don’t care how obvious it is. They don’t deny it at all.

That is what is different about this time.

But how do we know that was the spirit in which she gave Obama the bracelet? I'm not saying that it wasn't; but Barry has been known to embellish or outright lie before. I realize the mother is an Obama supporter, but this from the article makes it look as if Barry might have stepped waaaay over the line. (Again.)

Bottom line: If one parent of a fallen soldier tells you to stop politicizing his or her son's death, you stop. Period. Both parents need not be in agreement on this issue for the candidate to know the right thing to do.

Yes, I'm aware of that. I said nothing to dispute that. I was disputing media distortion and Barack Obama's credibility. Again.

We're on the same side. Act like it.

I think E.D. is on during the day; I’ve seen her fill in on Newswatch and The Factor, too.

I honestly have not met one person who wants obama and yet they say FL is close

I was just chatting with a co-worker a little while ago and he's convinced that McCain's going to win this in a landslide. He's said that all along and he still maintains that.

I told him I hope and pray he's right.

I have not met a single Obama supporter here. Even the government people I know who tend to be Democrat say they're either not voting the top of the ticket or they're voting McCain this year.

Its insane. The liberals have Pravda, they are using intimidation to stop political free speech and shut down opposition. This is Chigaco gangland style politics. Saul Alinsky, Marxism. Get in their face.

I used to think the Rats were the Girly men. Recently the Republican Women (Sarah Palin) have acted stronger then Republican Men.

This is why I am surprised

They say my state is close and yet no one here or they do not know of anyone who is voting for obama.
not one.

no one here or no one knows of anyone who has been polled

so the questions is who on earth is being polled ?

I just can’t see obama taking Fl and then I am surprised to hear NC is close and VA is a draw.

Remember when they said obama would win big time in NH and yet he lost big time. Well I think this will happen in this election.

the media are helping him out and yet he still can’t do better than he is.
You know if people actually found about obama and his censorship, his lies, his connections, his no experience then I would be surprised he have actually took more than 3 states

course the media won’t do their job as they know they could never get the truth out

Never before in an election cycle has the media been this biased. It’s frankly, scary.

Remember the Dubai Port World arguments? Or prior to BOTH the 2000 and 2004, the accusations that there were no witnesses to President Bush being at the Alabama National Guard base. Or while there were no WMC=Ds and no nuclear programs in Iraq, just before the 2004 election the outrage at the President for not safeguarding the MDX and RDX?
