Posted on 09/27/2008 2:10:05 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

God bless you guys, we need you. You're our last great hope before the Democrats and RINOs push us all in and plunge us into full blown socialism.

Hang tough!!

By the way, just heard on FOX News something about the committees working on this bailout bill just had their Blackberries confiscated so they can't communicate with the outside world. I pray I misheard that.

This is where we're headed if they pass this bail-out.

The Liberal Declaration of Dependence

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are not created equal and therefore must be protected and cared for by the government, that they are endowed by Gaia with some but not many and certainly not unalienable Rights. Among these Gaia granted rights are Life, (unless this is the wrong time of life for a baby), Liberty (with as much latitude as the elitist government believes to be in your best interest) and the pursuit of Happiness, (but not until we can prove that everyone is happy with a house, car, and free health-care). That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted, and once instituted, grow and care for more and more people thus deriving their powers from its shear size and power. That whenever any political movement such as the so called “conservative” movement becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of said government to infringe and seize control of any and all rights, properties and liberties as needed for the protection of the less fortunate people whose rights were infringed upon by said movement. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes such as: freedom, lower taxes, free markets, less government intrusion, and regulatory burdens that strangle business; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations by the “conservative” movement is observed, it is the right of the government, yea it is the Governments duty, to throw off such a movement, and to provide new Guards for its future security.

Whatever plan they settle on, they won’t introduce it until they’re sure they have the votes to not only pass it, but defeat any proposed amendments that will come up once it’s hit the floor. It is a scary time, I’m still incensed that those avowed socialists almost rammed the Paulsen plan thru, waving and screaming about the boogeyman to distract us. Like the title of this thread says, G-d Bless Our House Republicans!

You are amazing and this bears repeating:

That by itself would mark a watershed moment in American history—a public debate on preventing the voice of the people to be heard through their elected representatives. Even more remarkable that this would take place on a measure that the American public, liberal and conservative, is opposed to by a 7-3 majority, at least. In other words, they risk insurrection. And also, I think by this point every person who has been paying attention is fully aware of the doomsday scenario that a full-blown financial collapse entails and they are still opposed to the plan.

It is the first time I have ever feared for the future of this great Republic—much more so than 9/11, as that at least momentarily a time of unity. Now I know why the phrase, “may you live in interesting times,” is supposed to be a curse.

The rebel Republicans were elected for their views, which reflect those of their consituents. They have nothing to fear in sticking to their principles; the alternative is shame and ignominity if they capitulate now.

The real question is, where does McCain stand?

Freedom is a messy thing, but the Gulag is far worse.

The real question is, where does McCain stand?

That will determine everything. At this point, any bill that will provide for the Federal Reserve and the Government (you and me, since it's money) to absorb enough of the impact from this mess to keep the economic insitutions afloat will save the day and the global markets. I keep waiting for him to charge in with one, and that it will also require the undoing of the mandated credit hari-kari that got us here, and also require the 'saved' institutions to repay the American people every penny, albeit over time. I have no doubt that the successions of liberal administrations that mandated by law and directive that the lending institutions do those bad loans, and also changed reporting rules so they could hide their effect on profits, knew damn well that it would one day blow up the system...and pave the way for a permanent Socialist initiative to prevent an economic doomsday. It was an attack on the Republic no different than Pearl Harbor or 911. It just took a lot longer to bring off, and it was a lot sneakier.

2) Agreed. At this point, the only persons who are undecided are either too stupid, too lazy, or too busy to pay attention and that’s not a good thing in this most important election since 1860. I might cut a break with those conservatives who are so anti-McCain that they haven’t decided whether to vote or not, but depending on where the bailout plan goes, I cannot believe any conservative would not vote if McCain finally comes out to oppose the plan.

I just saw a blurb on Fox News saying that the Dems are accusing the Reps of grandstanding “especially McCain”. From that blurb I am guessing he is siding w/ the Rep House members. I could be wrong though.

Wasn’t it the House Republicans as well who stood strong during talks of amnesty for illegals?

Al Capone was a Chicago-based “community organizer.” Al would almost certainly approve of ACORN’s tactics.

It never hurts to be realistic about such things (i.e., cynical). Assume that McCain really is a politician first and a statesman second. If that is the case, then we need to let him know that 15-20% of his base—the same ones who didn’t jump on board til the Palin pick—will revolt, Palin or no Palin. In other words, his political future will depend on killing the Mother of All Earmarks and we all need to let him know this.

If, on the other hand, he believes himself to be a statesman and he still supports the Paulson/Dodd plan on principle, then he has a bigger problem as it directly undercuts his entire “reform” approach inaugurated with Palin’s inclusion on the ticket. I’d half expect her to jump off the ticket in disgust and, in fact, I’m not sure how she could defend the Plan during the debates since it clearly contradicts her own stated worldview.

I will learn to knit and grow my own food, in addition to reading by candlelight if need be, to be rid of this corruption and keep my country.

Stop ACORN. Stop LaRaza. Stop the RAPE of the taxpayer in this bailout—all 60% of us.

“But when a long Train of Abuses and Usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object, evinces a Design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their Right, it is their Duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future Security. Such has been the patient Sufferance of these Colonies; and such is now the Necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government.

My prayer is that it will not come to pass again.”

You and me both, brother. But, I am not going to die on my knees or bend over to grovel at the national money trough. This is plundering our wealth.
