Ms. Couric reminded the governor that she recently met with former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, who supports direct diplomacy with both countries. Are you saying Henry Kissinger is naïve? Ms. Couric asked. Ms. Palin replied, Ive never heard Henry Kissinger say, Yeah, Ill meet with these leaders without preconditions being met.
Henry Kissinger believes Barack Obama misstated his views on diplomacy with US adversaries and is not happy about being mischaracterized. He says: "Senator McCain is right. I would not recommend the next President of the United States engage in talks with Iran at the Presidential level. My views on this issue are entirely compatible with the views of my friend Senator John McCain. We do not agree on everything, but we do agree that any negotiations with Iran must be geared to reality."

After the interview, Ms. Couric faced the camera and added a postscript. Incidentally, we confirmed Henry Kissingers position following our interview, she said, explaining that Mr. Kissinger supports talks without preconditions.
The above sounds to me like Couric took liberties in explaining to her audience just what it was she asked Kissinger and just what his reponse really was.
The former Sec. of State never did anything without agme plan first.Ms Couric is way off base here.
Katie is not a liar, she’s just not very bright.
Thanks for the post. Kudos to you. Good catch!
Katie is not a liar, shes just not very bright.
Katie is not a very bright liar-There fixed.
Good thing nobody saw the interview! (except like Katie’s relatives etc)
Kissinger’s position will be discussed by the media in the next days due to debates, will be a great point to point out that Couric misstated his position too.
Guess CBS takes their talking points from Obama’s campaign too as if we didn’t know that. Since Couric did all she could to make Palin look bad, that is a great find.
Where oh where is the Uhhbummer Troof Squat, when you need them????

That Kissinger quote should be delivered to Couric embedded in a deep-dish pie.
I would not believe anything that Katie Couric says!!!!!
Were Katie's lips moving?
If so, that would have to be a "yes."
I saw part of that program that had the former Secretaries of State. I don’t recall any of them recommending engaging in talks at the Presidential level. Some(including Kissinger, I think) did suggest meetings with Iran at the Secretary of State level.
Why the rhetorical question in this headline? It’s a matter of record that Couric lied since Kissenger has said he never said what she has implied.
Commie Katie Colic
Obama countered with why he wouldn't have conditions, and that even Kissinger agreed to talk with Iran without preconditions.
McCain countered saying that he's known Henry Kissenger for 35 years, and would never negotiate with Iran without certain conditions, and the same held true with China and other countries. Obama continued "tough guy" posturing, while McCain talked, saying things like "yeah, mmm-hhmmm, sure, we'll see, yeah right" . Totally rude.
I wanted to beat the smugness right out of the stick with ears. I hate smugness like that, ESPECIALLY from somebody with nothing to back it up!
I thought Obama was rude throughout the debate, and glad that McCain after the first 10-15 minutes started firing back, and wouldn't concede to Obama.
Of course, couric lied, as did o-dummy last night.
Kissinger immediately released a statement last night correcting the lie.
I thought Obama was rude throughout the debate...
McCain rattled him a couple of times left him disoriented looking for a way out and all he could do was the “tough guy” routine. He looked weak instead.
