LIVE DEBATE THREAD
I think I’m objective... I think Mac cleaned this guy’s clock... I don’t think there is any dispute.. unless you have been living in a cave the past few weeks.......
smokin’......yeah.......LOL......
Unfortunately, neither do millions of Americans. Nor do they remember Bush saying that it would go on for years and be fought on many fronts.
"The question was a simple one but it elicited one of the few differences between Sens. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama so far in the race for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination: "Would you be willing to meet separately during the first year of your administration, with leaders of Syria, Iran, Venezuela and others to bridge the gap between our countries?"
"Obama said he would be willing to have such meetings." "The notion that somehow not talking to countries is punishment to them which has been the guiding diplomatic principle of this administration is ridiculous," explained Obama."
‘Obama doesnt comprerhend the war on terrorism’
“Unfortunately, neither do millions of Americans. Nor do they remember Bush saying that it would go on for years and be fought on many fronts.”
Yes!!! I needed to come back to FreeRepublic! People who GET it!!!!
Obama is lying about his father writing all those letters. He included that in his Berlin speech too and i researched that point. Here is from Michael Barone:
Michael Dobbs checked out Obamas claims about his fathers American education after his speech to the black civil rights leaders in Selma in 2007.
In the late 1950s, there was no university in Kenya, and educational opportunities for Africans were limited. The British colonial government opposed (Tom) Mboyas efforts to send talented young Kenyans to the United States for an education, arguing that there was a perfectly good university, Makerere College, in neighboring Uganda. The U.S. State Department supported the British and turned down Mboyas requests for assistance.
During his 1959 trip to the United States, the 29-year-old Mboya raised enough money for scholarships for 81 young Kenyans, including Obama Sr., with the help of the African-American Students Foundation. Records show that almost 8,000 individuals contributed. Early supporters included baseball star Jackie Robinson, who gave $4,000, and actors Harry Belafonte and Sidney Poitier.
There was enormous excitement when the Britannia aircraft took off for New York with the future Kenyan elite on board. After a few weeks of orientation, the students were DISPATCHED to universities across the United States to study subjects that would help them govern Kenya after the departure of the British. Obama Sr. was interested in economics and WAS SENT to Hawaii, where he met, and later married, a Kansas native named Ann Dunham. Barack Jr. was born in August 1961.

So he was picked by Mboya, the students were DISPATCHED (again probably by Mboya) across the US and Obama Sr. was SENT to the University of Hawaii. It had nothing to do with the American Dream but a lot to do with a Kenyan SOCIALIST Dream!
Hey Jo,
We survived! The debate & the painting...
I try so hard to put things in His hands, but then I always have to add my 2 cents.
Just in case it’s needed...ya know?
“Jim Lehrer lost control. The debate is on foreigh policy and Lehrer has let it drift over into domestic economics.
What a wimpo!”
I respectfully disagree. Lehrer said right up front that he was going to ask questions about the economy because he felt that had national security implications. Believe me, I detest the MSM, but I think Jim Lehrer played this right down the middle. I can’t really find fault with his moderation of the debate.
As for the two debaters, I thought McCain was direct and candid, and Obambi was glib and allusive.
Well done John well done!
He SAID he agreed with McCain three times, before clarifying that he took the totally opposite view: the WoT, energy, and the bailout.
You can't be a socioanthropologist without trying to understanding a society's politics, not if you understand that is a natural function of society that the people create the politics. It is not possible for the politics create the people. Do we NEED pits of Obie's hero, Che Guavara, dead in the dust? Oh yeah, Obie, people did Moussilini like they did Che...they were BOTH misunderstood.
What a shock. Charles Krauthammer thought they tied, which means Obama’s ahead, because the next one is on economy and McCain will definitely lose that.
Thinks McCain doesn’t get a bump.
I think the guy’s bright but he’s such an elitist he makes me want to slam my head against the wall. We conservatives have them, too, I guess.
McCain started off really poorly but he came on strong in the last hour or so. It’s funny how many times Obama said I agree or some other statement to John Mc. Overall John won.
Well, come on back. When u get time. :)
i think youre right...nice call
Obama agreed because it was the easy answer. He agreed when he did not know what to say!
Obama pledges to cut "unproven" missile defense and to gut other key military programs
Charles, “Picking Palin was a Mistake” says that Obama ended up even and thus won. I am not sure what is wrong with Charles this election cycle. There are no “draws” in Presidential debates. You either win or lose. Obama lost and lost big. Krauthammer’s entire theory was based on the fact that Obama has a lead based upon something he did. He does not, he has a lead because of the events on Wall Street. If Barry has to campaign and persuade people to vote for him, he has nadda.
What happens to the raised taxes to oil companies?... It shows up in every gallon of gas purchased by the citizen, the trucker, the entire energy system. Raise taxes on 'the wealthy' and you raise the business taxes which then get passed along to the consumers who the class warfare bastards have tried to fool with a mythical tax cut.
At 6:54pm I posted a BIG prayer for John McCain
to be filled with the Holy Spirit and for Obama
to become confuseded. It’s interesting how the
debate suddenly turned and that’s just about what
happened. McCain got His strength and Obama
started babbling like an Oracle at Delphi.
God is good. He answers even before we ask. What
a Mighty God we serve.
My favorite Obamism was when he basically admitted he had no foreign policy experience, but “that’s why I brought in Joe Biden as my VP candidate!” What an absolute dumb thing to say. McCain won this thing hands down. Only the Obama kool aid drinkers can disagree. McCain actually impressed me with his command and his demeanor and I have never been a McCain fan.
