UTICA, New York - A majority of likely voters nationwide think Democrat Barack Obama is more intelligent than Republican John McCain, and a plurality believes Obama will come out on top in Friday's first debate of the 2008 general election season, a new Zogby Interactive poll shows.
More than four out of 10 voters - 42% - said they think Obama will win the debate Friday, compared to 31% who said they think McCain will come out ahead on points. Another 27% said they are unsure who might win.

“What is the origin of the claim that Obama is smarter?”
They claim that Democrats are always smarter than Republicans. There are countless idiotorials, tracts, and professors who make this claim.
I know many very educated people who don’t have a clue what’s going on in this election. They watch the local news and then the alphabet national news and that’s all they know. My brother is one of them.
I can advise him how to vote but the millions of others will stumble into the voting booth and decide America’s future.
These people are idiots. Nuff said.
I expect Hussein to be in his best oratorical mode.He will have a teleprompter. It will not be shown or spoken of. That will be in the rules of the debate. All the leaks to the contrary will be generally accepted as lies and rumors. The MSM will universally praise O’Bama for his performance-without-teleprompter, even the outfit that provides the teleprompter.
Americans are so dumb that we have to be actually told to press the number “1” if we want to conduct telephonic business in English.
I want a sign that says...”Hi, my name is Joe Biden and I’m not smarter than a 5th grader.”

Obama thinks he is smarter than McCain, and Democrats are foolish enough to believe in him. I hope Republicans and conservatives are wiser. The smarter than thou game is something the left plays to add weight to their sack of crap. Gore, as we know, is an intellectual dork, the prophet of global warming, climate change and a dimwit full of contrived science, a scam artist, but liberals thought he was the smartest man to ever run for president. Kerry is a pathological liar, a fraud, a man of mediocre intelligence, and he was a genius, nuanced, a man for the world. Even Carter was put on the pedestal of wisdom until people got a load of how stupid his policies were. Now, we have Obama, the PC hero Hollywood has prepared us for, a real, world class IQ, and I bet he won’t hold a candle to lowly McCain in the debates, and certainly not in real life, where real intelligence matters, as Reagan proved. He was dumb enough to pick an idiot like Biden as his running mate. How smart can he be? We’ve all met a few Obamas, the guys who ought not be where they are because they don’t have the mental abilities required for the job, and all the brouhaha from the left won’t help him.
