John McCain announced that he will suspend his presidential campaign on Thursday to return to Washington to help with bailout negotiations. He urged his opponent Barack Obama to do the same.
The Arizona senator also asked the Presidential Debate Commission to postpone Friday’s scheduled debate with Obama so that he can work on the financial crisis bailout plan now on Capitol Hill.
“America this week faces an historic crisis in our financial system. We must pass legislation to address this crisis. If we do not, credit will dry up, with devastating consequences for our economy. People will no longer be able to buy homes and their life savings will be at stake. Businesses will not have enough money to pay their employees. If we do not act, ever corner of our country will be impacted. We cannot allow this to happen,” McCain said.
Rush went off the air before this happened.

The MSM had so many nice things to say about Bush in 2000 and 2004. I guess that is why we had a President
Gore and Kerry, because the media told us too vote for them.

I think in the emergency session Congress should first pass McCain’s legislation from 2005.
That will get the message across that the democrats have caused the crisis.
...and Obama will tell the country what his views on the economy are just as soon as McCain gives Obama those views to share! Generous to a fault, that Obama!

Where does Barry get off anyway thinking he calls all the shots? HE won’t agree to townhall debates, HE won’t agree to cancel Friday’s debate, who does he think he is?
This will give her a well needed break to rest and study for the VP debate.

Intrade is dominated by European leftists. I just got out of lunch with a nice chap form London who is a macroeconomic strategist for a major global financial firm. Supposedly this guy is brilliant, which is why he gets paid millions of dollars a year. But he hadn't a clue about American politics and was completely clueless on why the House members don't want to vote for this. I was like, "Ahh, duh. They face re-election in a month. They have to vote on this and then jump on the plane back to their district, and they'll hear nothing but a month of complaining about the deal from their constituents."
Europe is truly clueless about how American politics works. They always look at things from the perspective of parliamentary democracy rather than a representative republic.

The one or two INTELLIGENT people over there are getting REAMED for daring to point out that McCain has Obama pigeon-holed.
Off course the MSM will play it that way, and many people get their news from that source only. IMO it was a bad move.
He can show up for the debate, and look like an idiot standing alone at the podium while McCain has his sleeve rolled up in DC trying to solve the country’s problems.
Obama has bigger plan for the bailout.
He will request postpone of the November 4 election so he can work with John McCain on the bailout plan.

As another poster said—just send Sarah in to debate Obama! She’ll be just as good if not better with the foreign policy questions due to all the cramming.
You should be a sportscaster with “This will either win or lose an election” talk. ;)
