John McCain announced that he will suspend his presidential campaign on Thursday to return to Washington to help with bailout negotiations. He urged his opponent Barack Obama to do the same.

The Arizona senator also asked the Presidential Debate Commission to postpone Friday’s scheduled debate with Obama so that he can work on the financial crisis bailout plan now on Capitol Hill.

“America this week faces an historic crisis in our financial system. We must pass legislation to address this crisis. If we do not, credit will dry up, with devastating consequences for our economy. People will no longer be able to buy homes and their life savings will be at stake. Businesses will not have enough money to pay their employees. If we do not act, ever corner of our country will be impacted. We cannot allow this to happen,” McCain said.

McCain should go on TV and offer to send Sarah as his substitute so that OBama will have to reply in public. He already has acted as tho she was his opponent instead of John McCain. Considering that OBama has taken off this whole week to prep for the debate with a stand in playing the McCain part, it would be a hoot seeing him thrown off his game when Sarah becomes his opponent.

Warren Buffet also said that if he had the ability to borrow 700 bil, he would do exactly what the government is trying to do. It could be a good investment. Not all of these loans will default. There could be a return on this 700 bil investment. A bailout isn’t really the proper terminology. Using the word bailout instead of say investment, tends to lead people to panic.

Fox News reports that the Commission on Presidential Debates says it will hold the debate Friday night. Ole Miss still plans on the debate taking place.

You are naive about the financial sector not affecting manufacturing and people working. When the Mfg. can't get a loan to buy parts or the raw material to continue production and the banks tell the farmer they don't have the money to loan for his tractor and when Joe Public goes to buy a car he is asked to pay in cash.

This could all happen starting Monday if this financial crisis is not solved.

The WSJ, in Best of the Web has an excellent description of events that went on today.

It seems that Obama did call the McCain campaign and ask for a joint statement on the bail out. McCain did not respond for several hours.

It seems that Obama and Reid were told by Paulson that McCain would eventually support the bail out bill and Reid made statements to that affect. They planned to marginalize McCain as agreeing with Bush, while they used McCain to take cover for the bill. McCain said that he didn’t agree with the bail out and had never made any statements that would lead them to believe this. That is when McCain decided to cancel his campaigning and go to Washinton to work out a solution.

Obama has no choice, but to follow.

you know, people have questioned McCain’s decisions in the past; counted him out, were ready to start shoveling dirt on his corpse, even. the man has a way of staying afloat and the decisions, more often than not, have panned out for him. i’m thinking this is not going to turn out to be the huge mis-step everyone is hoping it will be. i’m thinking many will be disappointed.

How does everything go south come Monday? Are you going to pull your mutual funds? Is every American that is invested going to pull out there mutual funds? Panic is what causes ‘everything to go south? The market can sustain great flucutations if people don’t rush the door so to speak? Can’t it?

The Democratic Party today annonunced it may censure Joe Lieberman.

PLEASE REALIZE:

If Liebermann jumps to the GOP tonight, McCain will be the majority leader in the morning.....think about it.....Bush will sign the legislation.

A good point. Obama does not take his senate job seriously as it is. He and his backers have used it as a stepping stone to his current run for the presidency.

Obama would then say “Well, looks like McCain has to send a woman to do his job”. That will go over like a lead balloon.

Obama will debate himself. And look like the self centered fool he is. He's a master debater, no doubt about that.

“He is a Senator and so is Your Bambi>”

Lol, my Bambi? Some here want such an echo chamber that any slight departure from the group think is viewed as being on the other side. He’s not my Bambi, and my senators are Sessions and Shelby.

A few of us on this thread have just stated that McCain is showboating and it will not be a good move, for the campaign or the financial situation.

As I’ve said many times on various threads, these are the two worst nominees since WWII, or since I have any knowledge of both party nominees. I think Obama would be worse, but McCain would be bad enough. And McCain is not impressing many with this move today. The typical voter was much more oriented toward the debate than the financial crisis.

But I refer to Obama as Barack the Unready, and a lightweight, and his Cotton Candy Express (used that for months now), and the most unqualifed nominee in anyone’s memory.

But I still don’t have to pretend that McCain’s typical McCain moves are good moves.

Upfront, direct, and clear. Message received. Not that I didn't have my suspicions. I am emsmallened before you. My name shall be stricken from every obelisk.

Is that so? Huh! What can I say if you're quoting the rules? Those are the official rules, right, Chum....
