NEW YORK (Reuters) - Nobel Peace Prize winner and environmental crusader Al Gore urged young people on Wednesday to engage in civil disobedience to stop the construction of coal plants without the ability to store carbon.
The former U.S. vice president, whose climate change documentary "An Inconvenient Truth" won an Academy Award, told a philanthropic meeting in New York City that "the world has lost ground to the climate crisis."
"If you're a young person looking at the future of this planet and looking at what is being done right now, and not done, I believe we have reached the stage where it is time for civil disobedience to prevent the construction of new coal plants that do not have carbon capture and sequestration," Gore told the Clinton Global Initiative gathering to loud applause.

PA is RED...Nice.
So Algore and Standup-Biden disagree with their party’s Presidential candiate !
Let's not forget his other accolades, titles and honors. For example, he was also an "Emmy winner", now that's impressive.
He bought a new yacht? I didnt know that..
bump
It's an "Inconvenient Truth" that those that participate could end up with a police record.
First Joe Biden with his anti-clean coal rants. Then Bill Clinton with his praise of McCain and Palin. Now Al Gore.
Do they really want Obama to win in the Democratic Party?
Obama is not doing a very good job of managing and leading the party right now. These people are all over the map on issues!
Save you breath, Al. Anytime a coal plant is even talked about, Greenpeace files a lawsuit to tie it up in court for five years.
Why doesn’t he? While he’s at it, why not have a fund raiser to put in a sewage treatment plant in Tijuana, Mexico? Ever been to San Diego? Yuck!
How brave. Gore orders his young minions to go out and get themselves arrested, or worse if they try this in China, so that he can rake in more dough selling his phony ‘carbon credits”. What a leader!
Umm...how is this not a criminal act and why isn’t he in jail?
Interfering with the production of war materials( coal energy) during wartime is a treasonable offense. Al Gore should be jailed for sedition if he is encouraging this.
But the jails are overcrowded NOW!
Would hijacking Fat Ass’ Gulfstream so I can party in Cabo San Lucas this weekend be “civil dispobedience”? Non-violent direct action?
"Jabba the Gore, the Greenie whore!"
Exactly!
So when you find that heating bill taking out a big chunk of you budget, thank Gore & Co.
In 2003, Ohioians wanted to extract natural gas from Lake Erie (like the Canadians are now) and these guys put a stop to it. Alot of politicians caved because it was going to be a long fight. Bet they wish now, they’d have fought the envirowackos!
