John McCain has gained ground for the third straight month and now holds a slight two-point advantage over Barack Obama in the swing state of New Hampshire.
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the Granite State finds McCain attracting 49% of the vote while Obama earns 47%. A month ago, it was Obama by a point.
At the moment, the presidential race in New Hampshire is a toss-up. Nationally, the race remains close in the Daily Presidential Tracking poll.
Seventy-four percent (74%) of Obama voters say they will vote with enthusiasm for their candidate, a feeling shared by 68% of McCain voters.
Twenty-six percent (26%) of McCain voters say theyre voting primarily against Obama while 20% of Obama voters are voting primarily against McCain.
McCain is now viewed favorably by 60% of New Hampshire voters, Obama by 54%. Those figures reflect a three-point improvement for McCain and a single-point decline for Obama........
yeah, Obama is pulling way out in front now... right.
This coincides with the UNH poll a couple of days ago.
Oh goodie, a 269-269 Electoral Tie to be decided by the House of Representatives (unless McCain can magically steal one EV from Maine). Swell!
WOW!!! Great News
Something ain’t right with the polls. realclearpolitics had McCain at 249 EVs’ and now hes down to 189. How did he lose that many EVs’ in just 2 days?
I guess they didnt poll enough blacks like ABC
Remember, with the dems the opposite of what they say is probably the truth.
AOL commie news is screaming this morning that BO has a nine pount lead on the economy.
Cat maybe you should stick to your posts showing McCain behind, or maybe go to the Corner at NRO this morning showing that in 2006, the GOP’s worst year since 1974, the DEM Candidates only won by 3% .
And RAS and Gallup are still using 6 to 8% Dem Over sample.
Huge. If he can nail this and CO, it’s his election. I’m now convinced that he has OH almost in the safe column, especially when I recall that Ken Blackwell was only down 5-12 (depending on the poll), but the final result was 25%. So I think that’s confirmation of the “Bradley/Wilder” effect, big time.
Probably a VA poll that had Obama ahead. That alone would be a 44-vote swing.
How many elections have they covered? Maybe just 2004.
Did they cover the more volatile 2000 election?
LS, NH is big because it sets a trend I think for PA and Ohio.
White Voters in those states do not trust Obama.
I see TONS of these types of posts all over FR and cannot fathom why ANYONE in his or her right mind would actually give two squirted pisses about what these polls say...”pollnography” if you ask me...
The debates will decide this election, starting Friday. If McCain’s folksy, direct style is in top form on Friday, and Obama is his usual stammering, pretend-intellectual style, then McCain will jump ahead.
NH ping!

Most likely, the 249 was “no tossups” (where every state gets assigned to whomever is ahead by even the slightest margin) and the 189 is “with tossups”, where only states where one candidate has a clear lead are assigned.
Don’t worry, McCain has not lost 60 EVs in the past two days.
