The Palin Nightmare
Guardian(UK) ^ | 9/24/08 | Eric Alterman

Posted on 09/24/2008 6:38:57 AM PDT by DallasBiff

When the McCain campaign released the bad news it had accumulated in its post-haste vetting of Sarah Palin, it did so all at once, during the travel holiday weekend of Labor Day. They chose this strategy, as one key campaign adviser promised a New York Times reporter, "We are going to flush the toilet."

And what a toilet it is. Just to pick one of the examples that actually relates to the issue of her mode of governance – the ostensible reason she was chosen to be a heartbeat away from the presidency by a man with a 72-year-old ticker – is to enter a political and ethical looking glass that makes Whitewater-era Arkansas appear to be a mirage of high-minded, almost Platonic public service. But while Whitewater-obsessed Washington journalists for almost a decade and led - ultimately, to the impeachment of an enormously popular president - "Troopergate," to take just one example, has failed to inspire much in the way of outrage or even interest

Poor wittle Eric Alterman, he can't even find an American leftist media organization to spew his sarahnoic conspiracy theories. He has to go overseas.

The media sure is trying to do a thorough job vetting Gov. Palin.

When do they plan to put Obama under the microscope?

After two weeks of relentless searching, the MSM has been unable to find anything significantly damaging.

Why do we even bother to read Alterman or the Guardian? The Guardian’s always been a Communist paper. Alterman has always been beneath contempt. Giving them any recognition only serves their cause.

When do they plan to put Obama under the microscope?

Amen to that! Mysterious Saudi Islamic financing of his education at Harvard, connections to Bill Ayers at Columbia, home buying money originating in the Oil for Food scandal in Iraq, connections to the slimeballs who looted Fannie May for 100s of MILLIONS of dollars, sitting on multiple boards in Chicago with Ayers to create radical education programs that taught on "political awareness and revolution" instead of educating the kids. This is the filthiest person to EVER run for the nation's highest office. And the press has exposed NONE of it. His corruption and connections to our enemies should disqualify him for office, but the press turns a complete blind eye to focus on "Troopergate".

“The media sure is trying to do a thorough job vetting Gov. Palin.”

Wrong. Since Palin is an unknown, they’re trying to paint a negative image of her in the public mind.

The producers, writers, and editors of these hit pieces are just low-life Democrats.

These people are truly delusional - they are trying to make the NYT behavior portrayed in the SNL skit look sane in comparison...

Yeah right ... you dimbulbs in the Leftist hand-wringing medjia don’t seem to be writing any stories about “the Biden Nightmare” — Mr. nimrod gaffe-a-minute hack politician who has never been right about anything, a heartbeat away from the presidency.

I think Biden loaned half his brain to Matt Damon, cause if you shine a flashlight in the ears of either doofus, their eyes will light up.

Not to mention the “Obama Nightmare” — a mooselimb sock-puppet socialist non-U.S. citizen who can’t put a coherent sentence together without a teleprompter, and who has never led anything, and knows nothing. And you clowns think Obozo is qualified to be the president?

As I understand it - if Gov.Palin were a Democrat she should have promoted her disgusting brother-in-law to Chief of Police....and collected praise from the immoral MSM who protected their beloved Bent Bubba at every turn.

Seems that many thrive on this tripe.

Not having masochistic tendencies, I don't understand it either, but then I am only voting for McCain because the "Far Side" has a gun to my head.

Despite any number of attempts to obscure them, the facts of the matter, while complicated, are also clear. Last July, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin demanded of Alaska's public safety commissioner, Walt Monegan - whom she had previously appointed to the job - that he fire her ex-brother-in law, Mike Wooten, from his job as a state trooper.

She never demanded Walt Monegan fire Trooper Wooten - even Monegan said that. In fact Trooper Wooten still has his job.

Unable to get what she wanted, Sarah Palin fired Monegan, without offering much in the way of a cause or an explanation.

Sarah Palin let Monegan go because he wouldn't accept a small budget cut and he went behind her back with the Good Ol Boys to undercut her. She didn't fire Monegan, she offered him another job - Monegan resigned.

In fact, many members of her staff, as well as her husband had sought Wooten's firing and, according to a recent report in the Washington Post, both Palin and her husband had personally joined in the campaign.

The Washington Post is getting this from the Obama campaign investigators and isn't doing an investigation of their own.

The Palins' new tactic appears to be to try to shut down both investigations by virtue of non-cooperation. Key witnesses are ignoring subpoenas, including the Palins themselves.

This attack on Palin is a politically motivated effort by the Obama campaign coordinated by Senator French in the Alaska legislature. Senator French and his friends in the Alaska legislature should recuse themselves because they are actively working for the Obama campaign.

This may not be possible, as the Alaska legislature is planning to issue its report – as originally promised – by October 31.

Senator French said there would be an "October surprise", and the Obama campaign is counting on it.

It's hard to believe that America might actually be even more dishonestly, ineffectually and ideologically governed after January 20, 2009 than before.

Only if the Obama-Biden-Rezco-Ayers-Wright team gets to the White House.
