I thought it was the IRS that determines tax exempt status ... by the time they got around to investigating them and actually doing something it would have been all over .....

Isn't it interesting how those who scream and rage for tolerance and fairness are so unfair and intolerant when they are in control?

Its an absolute shame that this has happened, Hikind said. To threaten organizations
to threaten the Conference of Presidents that if you dont withdraw the invitation to Gov. Palin were going to look into your tax exempt status
thats McCarthyism.
I think this stuff about about tax status is bogus. As far as I'm concerned the Conference of Presidents is responsible for these rallies, Malcolm Hoenlein's representations notwithstanding. They are the umbrella group. They are not one of five groups that put these things together. The idea that tax status could be threatened is laughable. I was to one of their NYC rallies a couple of years ago where Hillary was the only major political speaker. Nobody said anything about taxes then. Hillary didn't say anything that offended me or anyone I know on the political right. (Maybe her breathing bothered me.) Sarah Palin wouldn't have said anything that 99.9% of the people attending the rally would have objected to. The tax thing is a flimsy excuse because the disinvitation is so obviously dishonest.
Hoenlein and his group still have a chance to change their minds. They probably won't, but if they do not the Conference and all the groups belonging to it are finished so far as I am concerned. Their interests do not lie with Israel but rather they lie with furthering the socialist agenda here in the United States.
BTW, I used to have great respect for Hoenlein.
