Jarrett is a member of African-American and Chicago royalty. But her story and her life begin in the Middle East, not the Midwest. She was born in 1956 in Shiraz, Iran, about 570 miles south of Tehran. Her parents moved to Shiraz, known for its poets, wine and flowers, as part of a program that sent American doctors and agricultural experts to developing countries to help jump-start their health and farming efforts. Her father was on the staff of the brand new Nemazee Hospital, where Jarrett was born. "Every memory from Iran is a very happy memory," Jarrett told me in an e-mail

Who the heck is she? She seems to be one of the many mysterious Middle Eastern campaign advisors Osama collects. However, the “happiest time” in Iran she is referring to is under the Shah, not under the Islamic Nutcase.
She’s not Iranian, she’s American and a former classmate of mine. She’s a old friend of Michelle O’s, and there’s a lot about her on the internet already.
and she would most likely be obama's chief of staff
Obama’s Huma.
From all that I can find on Valerie Jarrett, which isn’t much, she refers to herself as an American-Iranian. It is my understanding that she holds dual citizenship. While it is true there are many fine, outstanding Iranians; it is rather odd that she is touted as recently as Aug 28, 2008 in the official Iranian newspaper with just about the same article that you see here. You can go to this Iranian website http://www.payvand.com/news/08/aug/1295.html to read the article but I was receiving all sorts of warnings from my virus checker.
It is pure speculation on my part, but perhaps it wasn’t Sarah Palin that kept Hillary Clinton away from today’s rally on Iran.
And, no, you will find very little on the Internet about her. I know. I’ve tried.
Check her out on Wikipedia. Where does she call herself American-Iranian?
“Jarrett is a member of African-American and Chicago royalty.”
Is her father a black American and mother Persian?
Check her out on Wikipedia. Where does she call herself American-Iranian? She’s as much Iranian as McCain is Panamanian.
The point you are missing is that it doesn't matter two hoots if she is an “American-Iranian”. I am sure there are many proud and honorable American-Iranians who believe in democracy and freedom. Those are not the American-Iranians who are written up in glowing details on Iranian websites. Perhaps I'm just suspicious of anyone who says my fondest memories are of Iran; almost like Michelle saying that for the first time she's proud to be an American. But can you tell me her views on Iran since you seem to know her so well?
I believe her mother and father were married in the US and then moved to Iran. She considers herself to be African-American.
That's pretty snarky. No, she never talked about Iran at school. Iran, when she lived there, was under the Pahlavi family rule and very pro-American, a much friendlier place than today. You are looking for something that just isn't there. If it were, someone on FR would have found it a long time ago.
I would suggest that while Jarrett may not be an clandestine Iranian terrorist, I believe the evidence shows that, at the very least, she's a liberal dunderhead that believes Iran to be just a lovely country and if you talk nice to the President, you'll find them to be really nifty people. I would also suggest the Obama team isn't as friendly to Israel as they make themselves out to be.
The reason the trail is not there is simply because she has done well to cover it; not that it doesn't exist. Otherwise you would know her position, wouldn't you? Certainly she wouldn't be afraid to voice her opinion. The modus operandi in this whole Obama campaign is not to say anything. Not from Obama. Not from Valerie. That is typical of the political machinery known in Chicago.
Jarrett got her start in Chicago politics in 1987 working for Mayor Harold Washington[6] as Deputy Corporation Counsel for Finance and Development.[7]
Jarrett continued to work in the mayor's office in the 1990s. She was Deputy Chief of Staff for Mayor Richard Daley, during which time (1991) she hired Michelle Robinson, then engaged to Barack Obama, away from a private law firm. Jarrett served Commissioner of the Department of Planning and Development from 1992 through 1995; and was Chair of the Chicago Transit Board from 1995 to 2003.[7]
Chicago has royalty? That's unconstitutional. Unless it's the Daleys.
No disagreement there, since as liberals they most likely are in the same mold as most Eastern European pro-Palestinian liberals. But I seriously doubt she/they have an agenda to make-up so to speak with the Iranian leadership or steer an unfriendly course with Israel simply because she was born in Iran during the Shah's rule. The current leadership were the enemies of the monarchy, who were friendly with her family during their stay. If an Obama administration does go in this direction, it would be for other rationale. Iran was a different country then, and I would wager she was extremely disappointed by the end of the Pahlavi monarchy. I don't doubt for a minute that Obama would not be good for Israel if that's your concern. That's why I am so stumped as to why the Jewish vote has been turning away more and more from conservatism to vote for those who may support their enemies. I just don't get it.
“...you’re saying that you don’t know what her views are yet she’s very pro-American.
The pro-American label that I used was referring to the Pahlavi government.
Her bio says she was born in Iran. Do you deny that?
So? Do you know anything about Pahlavi’s leadership when her parents lived there vs. today’s?
