Penny Pritzker: Obama's Campaign Finance Chair and Pioneer in Subprime Loans
Senator Barack Obama’s campaign finance chairperson, faces a potential controversy over finance chairwoman Penny Pritzker’s past association with Superior Bank, which failed and was seized by regulators in 2001.
“Billionaire Penny Pritzker (Hyatt Hotels) helped run Hinsdale, Ill.-based Superior, overseeing her family’s 50% ownership stake,” John R. Emshwiller writes for The Wall Street Journal. “She now serves as Barack Obama’s national campaign-finance chairwoman, which means her banking past could prove to be an embarrassment to her — and perhaps to the campaign.”
Superior was criticized for engaging in predatory lending, and paid out $200 million in dividends to owners throughout the 90’s based on cooked books. Seeing as Ms. Pritzker was one of those owners, that’s mighty interesting. Team Obama has released a statement saying that Ms. Pritzker herself was never accused of any wrongdoing, and that the Pritzker family paid our $460 million to help defray the cost of Superior’s collaspe.

I also remember hearing Palin’s name as a possible VP right here on FR... back when she was just Alaska’s governor.
I would love to think that some McCain operative read that in FR and the campaign checked her out. He made the right choice. I knew of Sarahcuda when Saracuda wasn’t cool. :-)

Not Quite Ready for Subprime Time

As most of you know by now, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran has been invited to speak at the UN in New York City later this month. Maybe we’ll get to see the famous halo this time! Keep your eye on the C-SPAN coverage during his oratory and see if you can make it out.
A certain select group of well-meaning progressives decided to take the opportunity of Mr. Ahmadinejad’s visit to host a gala event for him at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in NYC. The invitation list was supposed to be confidential and kept tightly-guarded, but word leaked out, alas, and copies of the invite have spread across the internet:

Yep, that was all over Fox this morning! The latest is fake messiah is ahead by 5 points in NY. ONLY 5, here in my blue blue liberal state and he only has a 5 point lead. Doesn’t look good for the fake one.
