It’s the Iraq war and the “Neo-con” thing that has driven quite a few Libertarians to embrace the Left, in spite of their historical support for free markets.

Obviously this guy is no longer a conservative if he ever was one.

The United States should call for a meeting of the United Nations Security Council to condemn Russia's decision in coordination with our European allies," Obama said

That's the quote where we learn that Obama has no idea how the U.N. works, because the Security Council will NOT condemn Russia (since Russia has a veto on the Security Council).

This is the intellect that Wick thinks is borne out by the fact that Wick thinks Obama "wrote his own books" -- a fact that is not in evidence, given that Obama hasn't written anything else.

Nobody can read Obama’s books (which, it is worth noting, he wrote himself)

How on earth does this person know that?

we will have a president who has actually read the Federalist Papers.

And Karl Marx read Wealth of Nations. The writer of this drivel is a fool.

But those don’t matter as much as what Obama offers, which is a deeply conservative view of the world. Nobody can read Obama’s books (which, it is worth noting, he wrote himself) or listen to him speak without realizing that this is a thoughtful, pragmatic, and prudent man.

Obama has no conservative view of the world. He wants to interfere in the world, by sending 800 BILLION dollars to fight global poverty.

We have no proof Obama wrote his own books.

Anybody who listens to Obama speak without a teleprompter can see he has no original ideas, has no real thoughts, and is simply at a loss for words if they aren't written down for him.

When asked about abortion, he took time before answering "that's above my pay grade". That's not thoughtful or prudent, that is clueless.

And he still hasn't taken a position on whether he supports or opposes the AIG bailout. He's not thoughtful, he votes PRESENT because he can't make a decision.

He told Israel he was for a united jerusalem, and the next day said he was for a divided jerusalem. He is not thoughtful. He just says what comes to his head.

A "pragmatic" man? A pragmatist looks for whatever works. McCain does that a lot, eschewing party positions to fix stuff. Obama has never done anything against the people who pulled his strings. He's not "pragmatic", he an ideologue raised to radicalism, trained in community agitation, and steeped in the "best traditions" of Chigago Cronyism and smash-mouth politics.

In 1964, at the age of 16, I organized the Dallas County Youth for Goldwater

Hillary supported Goldwater too.

He says he doesn't agree with much of what Obama proposes. But then he says Obama is a "thoughtful, pragmatic, and prudent" man.

If Wick believes this about Obama, then Wick is saying he wants a guy as President who can't get anything right.

Wick admits Obama is wrong about a lot of things. But if Obama is pragmatic, it means he does what he thinks is BEST, not what his philosophy dictates. So Obama's WRONG IDEAS are the product of what Obama sincerely thinks is right.

If Obama is prudent and thoughtful, then he has really studied the issues, and he really is approaching them from an idea of doing the least harm, of finding the right solutions and implementing them.

But Wick, who I presume thinks himself pragmatic, thoughtful and Prudent, ahs looked at all the issues, and finds Obama's stance on those issues wanting.

And so, he must believe Obama is incapable of coming to the truth, meaning Obama is somewhat of an idiot in his mind.

But that's what he wants for President -- someone who thoughtfully reads the Federalist papers, but then votes as if he has NO CLUE AT ALL what the Federalist Papers say.

Frankly, if Obama has actually READ the Federalist papers, it makes Obama even LESS qualified to be President. I presume he gets every wrong out of willful ignorance. Wick thinks he gets it wrong even though he's trying his best to do what's right.

Meanwhile, time and again, the apparently "stupid" McCain gets it right. McCain oppposed the lack of spending discipline of his colleagues in 2001, and we see the soaring deficit. He opposed the drug plan. He supported the surge when many thought we should either stay the course or get out. He fought to regulate the housing market when most of his colleagues were happy to get campaign donations and watch home ownership rise. And just this week, he called for an RTC-like solution while Obama was attacking people for the problem, and at the moment that's what the government is going to try.

McCain, for a "stupid guy", seems to have instincts to get solutions that work. Most of the time.

I have little doubt that Wick gave McCain the maximum because Wick wanted to make sure a real conservative like Thompson or others didn't win the nomination.

The man is obviously a socialist. Maybe this is why he no longer writes for National Review. He was a conservative of convenience, kind of like a flag of convenience.

Barack Obama is not my ideal candidate for president. (In fact, I made the maximum donation to John McCain during the primaries, when there was still hope he might come to his senses.)

So MCCAIN was his ideal conservative candidate?!!

Yeah right. Democrats for McCain.

This article seems light on facts to me.

No one can touch FDR’s government expansion for one example. I doubt anyone will ever match Jimmy Carter’s expansion.

And how does someone who is a “thoughtful, pragmatic, and prudent man” spend 20 years in a black racist church, participate in a $100 million government fraud and then spend 10 years in government without any significant accomplishment?

Sounds like the author’s battle with oncoming dementia isn’t going so well.

I'm trying to find text to post of Obama's intention to make this world nuke-free, (I'd really love to have him detail just how he plans to do this) and tells us that he will not promote weapon replacement nor weapon upgrade/research, leaving America vulnerable in the future. Would you, or any FReeper happen to have that link? I am getting lost in the sea of Google.

They have to create these articles (better known as myths) as more and more high level Democrats and rank and file Democrats leave the party.

These myths are more directed at Democrats to get them to stay, the psychology is that if “conservatives” are voting for him he must not be that radical, all that Anti-American, Marxist, Communist stuff must not be true.
