Scary times on the third rail.
Washington Times ^ | September 19, 2008 | Wes Pruden

It's a little early to play the race card, but the Obama partisans, if not Barack Obama himself, are scared. They don't know what else to do to get their expectations, so carefully nurtured over spring and summer, in line with reality. The mainstream media's ganging up on a pregnant 17-year-old girl didn't work. Neither did the candidate's calling her mother a pig.

After Mr. Obama became the inevitable president, dispatching Hillary Clinton, the inevitable nominee, his cult thought it was going to be a downhill coast to a left turn into Pennsylvania Avenue. Alas, the slam dunk - the favorite metaphor of midsummer - now looks more like a lost ball. Suddenly it's all elbows and rim shots. The politics of hope has been reduced to the politics of merely hopeful.

Obama plays the race card, but very early.

Your link is screwy. It goes to some Philly paper, not the WashTimes.

I disagree: If Senator Obama doesn’t have a 10 point lead on election day, he has no chance whatsoever. There’s almost no possibility of that unless Senator McCain implodes.

Some people say he needs a five point lead. I find it amusing that we see Obama losing water among many demographics but the press continues to report him being ahead.

They must be figuring on lots of fraud, mountains of it.

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

That’s all that anyone has to say in response to Obama and race.

"There’s almost no possibility of that unless Senator McCain implodes."

Not likely. He's got a lot of stamina for an "old man" and decades of experience speaking. Obama hasn't a chance. In fact it's Obama that's looking worn down and frazzled from campaign pressure. McCain looks like he's just getting started, which he kinda is. Democrats do that to themselves every time. They start campaigning 2 years too early and burn out before their convention.

I always say that it's not the color of ones skin that you should look at, it's the color of their soul. And in Obama's case, it's awfully black. Nothing "racist" about that either.

Dr. King and Rev. Abernathy wouldn’t believe the evolution of the race pimps of this era and the self immolation they bring to their own people.

Rev. Abernathy endorsed Ronald Reagan in 1980.

Regarding Milhouse Obama:

The color of his skin = nonissue.

The content of his character = Let me know if you find any.

Obamalamadingdong is a big stick of cotton candy: sweet and fluffy and worthless- and ultimately very bad for you if you have too much.

I know myself and I know that I've sent money to black conservative candidates...I know that I thought at one time Colin Powell would be our next prez after the bumbling Bush the First.. and I have the reply from him somewhere to prove it.....

..I know that my white trash town with a tiny black population voted in a black mayor far earlier than the svelte and cool Seattle...

but Obama....never....he is a commie and a hater and a racist.....he might have turned out better but he met up with even a worse hater and racist in Michelle.....

You make a great point. I read in poll after poll the internals saying one thing and then, poof!! The bottom line, oh well, Obama is ahead. How in the heck?

Add to this the comments by Obama folk that the McCain ad about the economy is racist, too, and you've got a desperate campaign that just won't win.

If their charges are false, people will see Obama for what he is--someone who's not very savvy about how to win, doing ANYTHING he can think of to win.

If their charges are true (which not even Obama believes), then why on Earth would you make that charge to racist voters? You think you can convince them to stop being racist by pointing out their racism?

Fools.
