WASHINGTON — Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson says the government is crafting a plan to rescue banks from bad debts that are at the heart of Wall Street's worst financial crisis in decades.

Paulson said late Thursday the plan will need congressional approval. He and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke briefed lawmakers on the options they are considering.

I agree with everything you said, except.......the republicans are part of the problem as well.

The republican party had it ALL, the house, senate, white house and most governorships throughout America.

They did nothing. They perpetuated a run up in the trade deficit and the national debt.

The republicans and the democrats both waffled around on illegal immigration and did nothing.

Before the last congressional elections, the candidates on both sides ram rodded a bill that called for the building of the border fence.

Then after the election......We did not appropriate the funds to build the fence.

Oh, it’s much worse than that. Essentially what we are doing is bailing out these irresponsible people using taxpayer money, but that’s not what we are ACTUALLY doing. In reality we are borrowing an additional trillion dollars from China, Dubai, Russia, and other places with money and using taxpayer money to pay them back *with interest*.

Or, we let these institutions fail, and it hurts for a while, but then we’re done with it in a couple years, not a couple generations.

- Liberal politicians require private banks to lower the lending standards for mortgages.
- Private banks go bankrupt.
- The federal government bails private banks because of the mess the federal government caused.
- The voters pay for the mess their votes caused.

The people get the government they deserve and now must pay for it.
