NASHVILLE – The son of state Rep. Mike Kernell has been contacted by authorities in connection with a probe into the hacking of personal e-mail of vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, Kernell told The Tennessean.
Kernell, a Memphis Democrat, said his 20-year-old son David had been contacted by authorities investigating the hacking of Palin’s personal e-mail account, the newspaper reported on its Web site this afternoon.
The FBI and the Secret Service started a formal investigation Wednesday into the hacking, according to the Associated Press.
David Kernell is a student at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.

Since I’m someone who did have a yahoo email account “hacked” or whatever the computer term is, wish I knew you before it happened :) You probably could have given me tips to avoid that nightmare.

We’ve just seen too many cases where it was just harmless fun or sloppiness when it’s a ‘rat (think Sandy Burglar), but it’s watergate all over if a ‘can makes a mistake. Just let the criminal justice system run its course. One of these times we’re going to catch a big fish.
Though I’m not a Palin fan in the least, this crime needs to be solved and the perps given harsh sentences. Totally unacceptable.

Yahoo doesn't care, they have known about it for ages. The worst they would ever do is delete your ID. The IDs I have sat unused for 6-8 years and they are sitting again, just with my password instead of the original one. If I died tomorrow they would sit there again until somebody guessed my password or Yahoo went out of business and shut down their servers for good.
The really interesting question will be finding out how he got her specific ID to begin with

Hey there.. part of the unforgiving mob checking in. This wasn't some childish prank. This man was an Adult male who apparently tried to nationally embarrass a VP candidate. He invaded not only Sarah's privacy but her children as well. Politically motivated unscrupulous actions such as these should not be tolerated by any society. I know your a good person, but certainly you understand he can't just get a pass if guilty?
